I visited this facility

We went to Brookdale Arrowhead Ranch. It was very nice. I liked the way it was set up. The staff was phenomenal and very attentive to the people that would be living there and their needs. It was very clean. It was very convenient to have your loved one visit. The activities seemed to be in order. It was very organized with activities. They supplied everything at Brookdale. They want the people to interact with the community.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

the staff is friendly but don't care for the residents. My mother was very neglected and mistreated. her front tooth got broken. No one could tell me what happened or how it happened. All they said was that she didn't fall. she was dirty a lot of the times. on several occasions I asked when the last time she was bathed. No one could tell me. No one knew. or they would say that she was "screaming" that she didn't want to be bathes so they didn't do it. The place is pretty dirty. your shoes / feet stick to the floor. One time I went to sit down on a chair next to my mother. I was told not to sit there because it was disgustingly filthy! I went to pull up a wheelchair to sit in instead. I was told that was even dirtier! The residents are put in the recliners all day and left there being ignored or told to be quiet if they are speaking out for help. They insist that you label everything that belongs to your loved one including clothes. I special ordered labels with my mom's first and last name and personally sewed labels onto every I bought into the facility. My mom rarely wore her own clothes and several of her nicer garments went missing. we bought her a nice bedding set including a comforter. We never saw them after the first week. The food is awful looking and nothing but starch. The calendar of activities is only for show. they are not followed and are only done when the person in charge feels like doing it. And when done only a hand full of chosen residents are allowed to do it. the outings are only for residents who can walk on their own and have no behavior issues. No one in the facility is trained or capable of caring for dementia patients! they medicated my mother so much that within a few months she went from a talking walking person to a zombie sitting in a wheelchair being ignored all day. It was the best day when we found a much better facility and got her moved. However, the damage that was caused at Brookdale was already done. If you care about your loved one, DO NOT even stop to look at this facility!!

The unit is dirty. The patients are dirty. Aides are very lazy. Nobody is ever around to answer questions. Did I say the floor is so dirty that shoes stick to it? The carpet is gross. And aid told me not to sit in a recliner or wheelchair because they are never clean. And aid said she didn't put warm clothes on my mother because it was hard to stand my mother up which wasn't true. They don't brush patients teeth nor wash their hands. And aide couldn't even remember when my mother had a shower. The place is a living nightmare that I don't recommend to anyone. The only patient in the unit who gets care is the mother of a staff member. Shame on you Brookdale!

Brookdale Arrowhead Ranch has much better doctors and I've seen an improvement in my dad's health. Their food looks really good and much healthier. One thing that he appreciates about the place is that they have a courtyard area that's nicely landscaped. He likes to go for a walk, so having that inside courtyard where he can take walks and still stay inside the facility is nice for him.

I visited this facility

Brookdale Arrowhead Ranch seemed to fit all our needs. It was well contained. Everybody knew each other, and everybody was very friendly. It seemed like a nice place for assisted living. We checked the menu, and they had some great dishes there, and an all-day kind of thing where you could get snacks or three meals a day. They had a lot on the menu that I'm sure my parents would enjoy. There was a class going on while we were there, an art class, which seemed nice. It seems that there are classes daily. It is assisted living, so there weren't as many classes as in the other facility. It was a little more low-key. They had a library. They had things the residents could do on their own, and little classes too. The rooms were fairly small. They were studios, where it was one room for all their living. It was one room and a bathroom and that was it. My mom could use that, but my dad wasn't ready for the smaller space. But the cleanliness was great, and it was very self-contained. My mom has issues with wandering and that kind of thing, that it was all contained gave a certain sense of security about it.

Brookdale Arrowhead Ranch was fantastic. I highly recommend that place. I liked everything about it. It's an ideal place that you would want your loved one to go stay at. They're very professional and there was plenty for them to do. Everything about it was good and it's clean. You could bring your own refrigerator, they would do your laundry once a week, and they provide three meals a day. They have plenty of activities every day like bingo, crafts, and all kinds. I would give them a 5 rating for everything.

Our experience with Brookdale Arrowhead Ranch has been good. There are people that play cards and puzzles. They have activities and serve three meals a day. They have a doctor on the floor and also a hairdresser. Mom goes shopping on Wednesdays. The staff has been helpful. However, they should have a little bit more privacy when sharing a room. Her roommate always messes the bathroom, and it's hard for her to get somebody to clean it. They're remodeling.

Brookdale Arrowhead Ranch was horrible. I do not want my family to ever go there. Everybody looked really sad, like they were just waiting to die. It looked so depressing. There is no way we are going there. Maybe it is only for nursing patients but not for someone who wants to enjoy life.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

We placed my mother-in-law in Brookdale Arrowhead Ranch. They have been nice enough. The staff is attentive. The rooms are a little too warm for me, but that is because the residents like it warmer. My mother-in-law likes playing bingo. They have get-togethers during the day, and she participates in them as well.

Brookdale Arrowhead Ranch was nice, but they didn't have any vacancies when I went over there. The staff was real nice. The people were nice there. The place was beautiful. Their dining room was really big and nice. They did have an activity room, and they had people in there playing bingo. They also had a luau thing.

I visited this facility

The memory care facility is extremely understaffed. Often times residents are left alone in the dining room resulting in injuries and trips to the hospital emergency room. Caregivers fail to prompt hydration and eating. Some people can't feed themselves and sometimes go without eating due to lack of attention (under staffed). Virtually no activities other than kicking around a beach ball. Staff does blood testing and blood drawing at the dinner table whiles meals are being served. Lots of personnel changes including 3 different executive directors in less than two years. Current Director is not open to criticism or complaints she is very rude and nasty. Her response to complaint issues is if you are unhappy with our care why haven't you moved? On site facility nurses are extremely inexperienced and have little or no memory care background. Most caregivers are also lacking in memory care training. Rather than address complaint issues the director evicted my family member. Not recommended.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother lives there is an old building, people that work there is very nice and responsible , what I do not like is the change of management she is there for about 4 years and already had four different persons in charge . They overload employees with chores the same employee has to clean help with showers , help in the kitchen etc. they do not have enough employees because they cut the number they had before to save money. Ready to move her somewhere else

We visited Emeritus at Arrowhead for my mother-in-law. It's an older facility, but it seemed very nice. They offer a lot of services and amenities that I think my mother-in-law would enjoy. The room is fully furnished, and all you do is provide a bed if you want. The room is really clean, and it smells good. The staff are very nice.

This is a beautiful one story facility. They have nice shade trees, grass, flowers, and greenery. All is well maintained. They have a central courtyard with a gazebo and two patios. They have 52 assisted rooms and semi-private. All are handicapped equipped and have emergency call systems and private baths. These are large sunny rooms They do housekeeping and laundry. They have a fine dining room which is restaurant style. They do 3 meals and snacks. The food is very good. They do passisted and have a memory care too. They work with physicians who come, there is a nurse, and they work with other community agencies for resident care. They have an activity director, a beautician, and all caregivers are certified. The staff is very good and caring. They do lots of activities as, chair exercises, bingo, movie night in the large living room, they have a small library, and do arts and crafts. They do lots of outings to ball games, shopping, and community events. This is a nice, clean facility with lots of amenities for residents.

I visited this facility

I thought the staff did a great job of making the residents feel comfortable and as if they were at home. The facilities looked clean and brand new. There weren't really any negative aspects of the facility. I thought though that the staff could've done a better job of cleaning the toilets. There were a couple surprises left for me when I first entered a couple times. The people there are very friendly and know what they're doing though. They treat each resident gently and guide them in the right direction. I would probably send my parents to this facility when it's their time. I would also recommend this facility for anybody who is looking for an Assisted Living Facility. I've been to numerous facilities in Arizona, but I can honestly say that this one is top class and one of the best. I, myself, would love to live here. I haven't been treated with the respect they show in a while. It would be a great opportunity to reside there.

I visited this facility

I'd visited several Emeritus facilities during my broad search with my mother for assisted living. When my father in law was diagnosed with dementia, it was one of the first names I thought of. I looked them up and realized they did have a facility closer to him in the west valley. Just like the facility I visited here on the east side, this Emeritus was equally as spectacular. Beautiful building with so much grass and trees, it honestly looks more like a resort or vacation spot. You can choose from a studio up to two bedrooms and the rooms are set up so nice. I loved their library as my father in law is really into current news and magazines. A nice recreation room that seemed like a pretty hoppin' place. When we walked through it was occupied by about seven or eight residents. The staff was visible and seemed completely accessible, friendly and made eye contact, said hello not only to myself and my husband but most importantly, to my father in law. I loved how one of their trip outings consisted of trips to the casino. My father in law lived in Las Vegas for fifteen years before returning to Arizona. He loves the casino. Very clean, well maintained and active community. Even when we toured the Alzheimer's and dementia care area's, things felt brighter and my father in law specifically said several times, "not bad".
