I visited this facility

Sunrise of Gilbert was very nice. There's no doubt that it looked like a very good facility. They had good transportation services. Everything was pretty much what you would expect, but the only thing was (it's probably not true for everybody and it's not their fault) its location. For us, it's between the 202 and the 60. So, the best way to get there was on surface streets. So, it took us a long time to drive to that facility. It didn't get us any closer, but the facility itself was very nice. They did a good job. The staff was very attentive, very friendly, and helpful. I don't know when the facility was built, but it's maintained well and everything looks very clean. I think it was built intentionally as a senior living, as some are just converted apartment buildings. The atmosphere was very pleasant.

Sunrise of Gilbert seemed like they didn't know we were coming. We got there a couple of minutes until 1:00. We checked in and they didn't seem to know about us. And then we waited 15 minutes after 1:00 before somebody showed up, and that was Holly. We weren't impressed with that. They had a pool, but it still looked a little bit oldish. With regards to the staff, I'm not sure she got the right job.

I toured Sunrise of Gilbert. It was a very good tour. It's just too expensive. It's crazy what they want. The tour was very nice. The people were very nice. The lady who took us around was great. The room was kind of small. I think it was a companion room with a shared bathroom, which was all alright. It was good. The staff was very good. She explained everything, but I just told her it was too expensive. The place was clean, neat, and decorated.

My parents are staying at Sunrise of Gilbert. They enjoyed it. They don't think the food is very good. The people have been good with my parents and with us. They ride the bus to go to the casino or the store. Their one complaint is that there's only one driver, so it's very infrequent that they get to do anything. They have a barbershop. They play games.

My mother-in-law is currently at Sunrise of Gilbert. It's homey. The rooms are spacious and fine. The staff are very kind and considerate. They gave us a lunch-to-go and it was very good. The location is good. They had the perfect apartment that my mother-in-law needed. She needed something where a lot of sun came in and she needed more space. So they had one available, and they took it. However, for my mother-in-law who's 90 years old, dinner is served way too late.

I went to tour Sunrise of Gilbert but I didn't get a good feeling about it. The one-bedroom apartments were very small. The building was multi-story, and the available one was up on the upper floors, which I did not care for. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. They invited us for lunch, but we didn't come. The dining area was very nice. The courtyard was very nice, too.

Sunrise of Gilbert was nice, but it's a little more pricey than the place we moved into. Their apartments were nice, clean, and well-kept. The staff who accommodated us during the tour was pleasant and friendly. Their price was higher than I wanted to pay and I didn't get much. They have assisted care there if you would need it, but you're paying for that and not using it. So I don't like that idea. They had all the amenities like a swimming pool, a beauty or barbershop, and a movie theater.

Everything was fine over at Sunrise of Gilbert. It was just too far away for me to go to visit my husband. He stayed there for over 60 days. It was very nice. It was a little older than the other place, but they had a lot of things going there. It's full. They have activities. They're short staffed, but everybody seemed to help. My husband enjoyed them. The food was good. The facility was clean. He was able to do some activities. I had breakfast, lunch, and dinner there. They're competitive with everybody else price wise.

We looked at Sunrise of Gilbert. When we drove up, the building looked really, really cute. It looked kind of southern charm style, but when we went in, I just don't know. I could tell they tried to do a good job. It was cute, but it just wasn't elegant. It didn't have that elegant feel that I knew that my mom was used to. There was no air in the elevator that the staff took us into. I just smelled dust, and her perfume just knocked me out. I felt sick all day from her perfume. She was really nice, and she answered all our questions. It looked like a nice enough place, but I knew that my mom would not be happy there. The rooms were very, very small, and they had no character at all. My mom wanted a ground floor unit, and they didn't have any ground floor units available. They only had a studio available. The staff took us just for fun to look at a two-bedroom, and the two-bedroom basically didn't have a living room. You just walk in and you had two rooms, so you had to use one of the bedrooms as like a den or as a TV room. It should never have been called a two-bedroom. It just wasn't set up like a little home. I just felt like all they needed to do was wheel in a hospital bed and an I.V. stand; it just didn't feel right. My husband went to open a window, he wanted to see if they opened easily, and it got stuck at three inches. She goes, "Well, they were only made to open that far," but then he couldn't close it.

Sunrise of Gilbert is eight miles from my brother's house and about 18 miles from my father's house. It's not far, and it's very likely for consideration. The staff was very good. I was very impressed with the staff. It was very warm and homey, very much more like home as opposed to an institution. It was a little bit rundown in places. There were things that hadn't been vacuumed up off the floor. There were scuff marks on the doors and on the walls. Some of the windows were grimy, greasy, and dirty. Overall, cleanliness was kind of an issue. Maintenance also seemed to be an issue. I saw the food. It actually looked quite good, but I didn't try anything.

I liked Sunrise of Gilbert. It was very clean. The food was pretty good. I guess you can eat all day. The property was beautiful. There's a lot of activities. I liked what I saw. Everybody was very polite and congenial. It looked very, very nice. I saw the menu, and I saw what they were offering, and how many meals a day, and it all looked really good. It's aging in place, and that's kind of a plus.

I visited this facility

I toured Sunrise of Gilbert and my first impression was that it was a very busy place. There was no parking and I had to find a parking place some distance away from the office. Because it was full parking, I had to walk some distance, which was a negative for me. I have a little bit of a problem walking. But when I got to the facility and got to the independent living office, they were very cordial. They hadn't heard that I was coming, but they got the assistant to the activity director to show me around. They showed me a beautiful room there. They don't have any openings right at the moment. They are full but they did show me a beautiful room. It was one that was occupied, but the person was away on a vacation trip, and they had permission from the person to do that. It was favorable and I enjoyed the interview, and the tour. The ambiance was inviting. The people that lived there were more cordial and greeted you with a hi. It seemed like people were happy being there. One of the things that didn't impress me but was necessary was that it's a three-story building. They do have elevators to get to people up and down. It was airy, open, bright, and was very clean. All of the staff were wearing Covid-19 masks, but it was not a requirement for the residents. There was some construction going on which made it a little bit difficult to see all of the property. But it looks like there's ongoing improvements and maintenance. I was impressed. It is a nice place. One of the administrators was with us for the first 15 minutes of the visit and interview and the tour and she was very, very competent, and very, very helpful. There were no openings at all in sunrise. And so that indicated that it's a very desirable place to be. One of the reasons that I didn't do any parking is that they had a construction area that was taking up a section of parking and so that can be remedied.

We would have gone to Sunrise of Gilbert because it was more established. All I can say is they were very entertaining. They had a lot of activities for their residents. I have a friend in assisted living there and he seems to be happy. What I liked about that, the people that worked there had been there for a long time. The waitresses had been there for years. They liked the job. We visited the assisted living. We visited my friend, and we ate a meal with them. They were great at lunchtime and the food was OK. He had a lot of activities. He played the violin a couple of times a week for the people there. The room was probably average for what you would normally get in assisted living. It was kind of a small apartment, but it had a living area and a bedroom area. He was happy there. It was very homey.

My brother and I toured Sunrise of Gilbert, but it was well before COVID. We thought it was excellent. The apartments looked roomy. It was everything my mother could have asked for with meals. My brother and I really liked it. The staff members were very nice, polite, and accommodating. They actually let us view an actual apartment. The ladies left the apartment for us to view it, which was really nice. They were very professional. They pretty much told us everything that was involved with it and what you get. Overall, the whole experience was really nice. They had activities, like card games and stuff like that, that they could do. They had a shuttle that would take them to wherever they needed to go. My mom is a casino junkie, so I know they had a shuttle that would take her to the casino if she wanted to go. She could even keep her car there. The rooms were big enough to accommodate a queen bed, a dresser, and a nightstand, so they were roomy enough. The bedroom was fine. It was its own separate room off from the living room, which was nice. The food looked good. The facility was really nice. It didn't smell or anything. It was very nice.

My mother-in-law was at Sunrise of Gilbert, and that place was awesome. It's an older building, but it's well-maintained. They had lots of activities and the caregivers were very good for memory care. The food was OK. It was just hard to judge because, again, it's memory care, but they did comply with any dietary restrictions. They did a good job with that, and made sure that she was able to swallow. She was incontinent, but the caregiver did a good job of keeping her very, very clean too. There weren't any smells of the residents or anything, so they were on top of the people. She was really happy with her caregivers. In the beginning, we had to say to them that she couldn't have a different caregiver every day, because she would think that she moved every day. They gave her, as much as possible, the same caregiver, at least in the morning, and then a different one every night, but not a different one every day. They also had bingo, board games, card games, and they always had old time movies on TV. In the memory care, they kept the news off, which was important, because the residents in that section didn't know that the news they were watching didn't happen in their facility. If there was a bombing on the news, they would think the bombing happened in their building, and they were good about keeping the news off, and keeping it peaceful and enjoyable to the people.

Sunrise of Gilbert was very pleasant. The lady I talked to was very helpful, she answered all my questions, and she was extremely informative. She was very honest too -- like she didn't try to cover up anything. She was very straightforward, very kind, and very helpful. The place was clean and it smelled good. The residents seemed very happy. It looked like they were enjoying their time. I really liked the feel that I was in a home and not a nursing facility. It didn't have the long hallways and the staircase overlooking the main lobby. It just had a really good feel in that way. I liked the large patio that was connected to the room. Overall, out of the three I visited, this was the one that I liked the most. This is the one that my friend liked as well. I was talking with her on FaceTime and showing everything to her, and it was the one that she was most interested in. Everybody was friendly. The cook was friendly. It had more of a feel that you were living in a senior apartment complex. It's very independent. You still had the capability of having someone come help you if needed, but you were very independent. That's what I really liked about it. The staff said that they could start my friend out in the independent living and just be watching her, and if it looks like she's going to need assisted living, then they will help move her over to assisted living.

I visited Sunrise of Gilbert for my husband a week earlier than scheduled. It was very nice, they are very personable, and they have lots of activities for all levels of care. It was well run, and the only thing I didn't care about, but I think that's probably a necessary thing is that the memory care is on the third floor, and they don't get to go outside except for a balcony where they have a seating area. They don't get to sit on the grass. It's kinda in a congested area, where there's lots of homes or stores around it. Other than that, I was very pleased with it. The food smelled wonderful, but I wasn't able to try them. I thought the place was attractive, it was beautifully done, and it is close to my daughter's house.

We chose Sunrise of Gilbert for my father because the level of care was the best of any of the places that we saw. It's a beautiful facility. I have heard that they do an excellent job of training their people, and we found that to be true when we were actually able to speak with some of the caregivers. I gave the staff a 5 because of their responsiveness and their dedication to the clients. My father is happy with the food, too. The place is very clean, very new and it feels like people of that generation would be comfortable there. We're also getting what we pay for.

I talked to the lady in the conference room of Sunrise of Gilbert and I saw a one-bedroom sample. It was OK. I wasn't quite as impressed with them as I was with the other place I toured. I think because it's a slightly older place, so the grounds around it weren't quite as nice of an outside area supposedly. The lady I was talking with didn't seem quite as personable as the person I talked with, but she was nice, and knowledgeable. I just didn't have the same connection with her as I did with the other place. It was more of an average type place.

I liked Sunrise of Gilbert because it seemed cozier than the other places I've been to. They offered outings three times a week. They checked on the residents to make sure that they're out of the rooms, and visiting and socializing with other people. They had a lot of activities, like folding brochures to make envelopes. I liked that they're willing to give people little jobs if they want to help with things, like set the table or whatever. It's nice and cozy. I saw people eating, and the menu was simple and had options that the older generation likes, nothing complicated. The food looked fine, and the staff seemed fine. The lady I talked to who showed me around was really nice and patient.

I really liked Sunrise of Gilbert. They were really good when we visited them. They had a lot of nice activities and things for the people to do. They specialize in the memory care where they have computers to try to keep the people up on things and they work with them. Their memory care facility looked excellent. It was top of the line, but their prices were very high. I was very impressed. They had a smoothie bar there, which was nice. They were clean. They go out of their way to make sure that the memory care people are kept alert and they work on their memory to keep them sharp. It's a really good facility.

The woman who gave us the tour of Sunrise of Gilbert was knowledgeable but a little intense, which just put me off a bit. It's a community that's a little bit older and is multi-leveled. It just didn't feel as warm and family-oriented as the other place we visited. The place is confusing. I wouldn't have been able to find my way around. It just didn't feel comfortable to me.

Interior decorating was gorgeous. I visited looking for a community for my parents, but my dad is afraid that "senior living" means it must be "institutional." I can't wait to show him Sunrise and change his mind! The apartments are bright, modern and very spacious, and will definitely cushion the shock of moving from his own 3-bedroom house. Who wants to live in a little dormitory size room for the rest of your life? The common areas are clean, well-kept and have homestyle touches like fireplaces, a community dog (Gracie is a retired service dog, how cool is that?) and lots of comfy chairs on the multiple patios.

We visited Sunrise of Gilbert. The staff was fine. They were very busy. It seemed a bit crowded, but it was nice. We had lunch there, it was great, and the people were nice. The dining room was more crowded. The spaces between tables were more crowded. It was like an old hotel with meandering rooms that you could get lost in. The rooms had two options. You could have a shared room arrangement. It was two bedrooms and a little courtyard area with a little connecting room wherein you had individualized apartments. The other room was like an efficiency room, which was OK. They had a variety of activities, things to do, and places to go. There were senior memory care activities that were fine. It was secured enough. The reason why we didn't choose it was because it didn't have weekly respite care; you had to go there for two weeks but we needed it for eight days.

Sunrise of Gilbert has a transition of program in which you live in the second floor of the assisted living; they would provide a particular program and routine. The rooms are smaller, and they don’t have any access to independent living. But other than that, the staff was very good; they were accommodating. I would like to see some ways they’ll not separate so much the different levels. They don’t have a way in which you can interact with others.

I did not Sunrise of Gilbert. It was a cramped place to live, it just didn't suit us at all. I had no problem with the staff. I think her name was Liza, and she was excellent. The rooms were really small.

Sunrise is a beautiful place, but it’s too expensive for us. The dining room is beautiful; it’s a big dining room with white tablecloths. It’s a big, well-run facility.

Sunrise is outstanding. It's a very nice facility. The staff could not be nicer. I like the caring element of the staff. I would rate the food as good.

Sunrise of Gilbert was quite nice and homey. It's not too far from downtown. The staff was very nice. They had a nice little dog outside, and everybody was fine with that.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

The staff that we've met at Sunrise have been incredibly kind and incredibly caring. I've been really impressed by the way they've treated my in-laws, especially my mother-in-law. She has severe dementia. My father-in-law had been taking care of her. He had a stroke and could no longer take care of himself or her. She was very angry and difficult about having to move to assisted living, but they were just so gentle and kind with her. They gradually turned her around to the point where I think she's starting to enjoy living there. The prep going in wasn't quite as good as I would expect. We had to move my in-laws very quickly because they could not be left alone. So we didn't give Sunrise a whole lot of notice before we had to move them in. When we moved them in, there were problems with the apartment. It had gotten new carpeting the day before, and the carpet installers had messed up the paint in there, and it took a bit before they were able to completely touch up all the paint. I noticed some little details that could have been a bit tidier. The blinds in the room were kind of dusty, and the drapes in the common areas looked like they needed pressing. The housekeeping is not bad, but I noticed it's not as good as where my mom lives. But the actual care, the people that have worked with my in-laws, have been very nice. Everything we've seen of the food looks really good. I've gone there for lunch a couple of times. It was very nice. They also have something going on every day. They have snack times in between meals, games, they've had musicians doing recitals, scrapbooking club, exercise equipment, a small pool, and they also have a bus that will take the people around to various stores or to doctor's appointments. They actually care that way, and I thought that was outstanding from what I've seen so far. What I like best about the community is how kind the employees are to the residents and the way they encourage them to do different activities. I also really like that each resident has a shadow box by their door for them to decorate. That was really nice, and I really appreciate how they were able to calm my mother-in-law down. I've seen a huge difference in her behavior. She's definitely doing better than she was when she was at home. When we moved her in, she really couldn't dress herself, bathe properly, or put on her makeup. Now, when I go over to visit over, she's clean and fresh, tidy, and her hair is all nice. She looks really well cared for. They've done a good job with my father-in-law too, I think.

Sunrise of Gilbert is a beautiful facility. It's fairly new and very beautifully decorated. The staff was very nice and she took me on a whole facility tour. They have lots of rooms for activities and I saw some residents participating in the activities. I saw their rooms and they were not well laid out, but aside from that everything looked gorgeous.

At Sunrise of Gilbert, the facility was beautiful. In terms of cleanliness and ambience, it was very nice. The people were especially nice. However, if two people move into a unit and one of them needs assistance or goes into assisted living, then that person has to move to another part of the facility.

Mother stayed at Sunrise for about eight months. It goes from independent to assisted living and then it also has the Alzheimer's or dementia area, too. It was just top of the line. The people were very hospitable. The food was good. Good care for my mother, just clean, nice, very accommodating, big enough for her. I like the way it was decorated, the way care was given. The people were very nice and they attended to my mother very well. She needed showering and her medication given to her. They were so accommodating that my mother smoked and there was no smoking inside the facility but they made a smoking area outside and got an ashtray for her. They are a little pricey. It was the closest one to our house. They're out of the city but it was just perfect. I was happy with it. They did have activities. They would take her to the store and they would take them out for lunch and they would have crafts. They would even have people come in to play music usually once a week. It was really nice.

I am a friend or relative of resident

I have visited this facility at least twice a month for nearly four months. I nearly always visit during lunch or dinner. I have had maybe two meals there which I found to be acceptable. I would say that ninety percent of the time the meals are served cold. There will be only one person handing out meals to more than 20 people. If someone orders pie ala mode, their ice cream is nearly completely melted before the coffee is served. I have NEVER seen them serve what is posted in the elevator nor outside the dining room. A few days before Thanksgiving, they served a tasty turkey dinner. On Thanksgiving day they served a lunch which was the worst turkey dinner I had ever had. The people who work at this place are nice, but they are seriously understaffed at meal time. The outside and inside of this home are beautiful -- the winner of one season's Design Star did the interior decorating. I was in the restroom of a shared bathroom for two studios once. There was no soap, towels or anything in there except toilet paper. I am not too impressed with this place, considering people I've spoken with say that the amounts charged for staying there are very high for what one gets. I would say, at this point, that this place is 65% facade and 35% real. Unfortunately, the lack of service that I have experienced has all been on the memory care floor. Many of the residents lack the ability to make their needs or wishes known. They claim that they keep their residents up and active with games and other activities. I have come in around 4:40 and found my friend fast asleep in her room, not realizing it was time for dinner. The memory care residents seem to have no concept of time, day of the week, or even which month it is. I have seen this last issue addressed better in hospitals. How are the residents supposed to be grounded and focused in reality when they have no sense of time or date? I am a truly disappointed friend. I, too, have seen residents bussing their own tables. This is hardly indicative of an upscale facility.

I have eaten lunch and dinner with a friend who lives there on the 2nd floor. The food is, more often than not, cold by the time it is served to the residents. The meals being served are seldom what was posted in the elevator and the entrance to the dining room. More often than not, there is only one person delivering meals to residents and cleaning up afterward. I have seen residents clearing the tables, and I have heard the residents complained about this facility being understaffed. I have been in the restroom of my friend who shares a restroom with another person in another studio. There was no soap, towels, or toilet paper in there one day.

Mom has been at Sunrise of Gilbert for about 2 months. It is very clean and very elegant. The staff are all very nice and friendly. She said the food is excellent. They really make a really good effort at everything that they cook and they had filet mignon one night. It is always a surprise everyday about what they have on their menu.

I visited this facility

I was very impressed with Sunrise of Gilbert. It's located in a newer area of Gilbert and is within easy access to many of the places my relatives father-in-law frequents such as doctors, library, etc. When first arriving at Sunrise of Gilbert, I was quite taken back at how well kept and well manicured the grounds landscaping was. It was beyond what one would expect for nice landscaping. I was just as impressed when entering the main reception and visitors area. It has just the right amount of an up-scale feel with it still being very warm and homey. Many of the residents could be seen getting ready to board the facilities shuttle bus to go shopping, doctors appointment's, etc. Other residents were busy in the recreation area doing all sorts of crafts. The staff was very welcoming, warm and immediately assisted us. We were visiting to go on a tour of the facility. I was very pleased with all aspects of Sunrise of Gilbert from the appearance of the facility on up to the staff and management.

This facility is fairly new to the Gilbert community and it is absolutely beautiful. The flowers, trees, walkways and landscaping in general are stunning. They allow residents to pick and choose from some beautiful designs in order to give their condo-style homes their own beautiful touches. The common areas in the community are very well designed with comfort and beauty in mind. It's just down the road from downtown Gilbert which houses a few amazing restaurants, a farmers market, and the Hale Theatre. The staff is very friendly and caring. They truly take pride in their work and provide the best assistance possible to the residents. The staff treats all of the residents like a part of their own family and not like it's just a part of their job. It's the personal touches that set this place apart from others. My favorite part about this place is that there are always activities going on onsite as well as planned events that they take residents to offsite.

I visited this facility

My mom and I have been visiting facilities in the southwest corner for over two months. I live in Mesa, she lives in Prescott, but we figured we could eventually settle on a place in between. This is where Sunrise came into play. A drop dead gorgeous facility! Honestly, no pun intended. White-washed exterior, too many plants and flowers to name, active enough to get distracted and move on. A twenty four hour staff, and every room is telephone ready, a plus that pleased my mom as she has looked into countless facilities and was often told: You need to set up your own services. She worries about losing contact, even if it is just for one day. I have to say, personally, without my mothers input, how they specify directly on their website and in their brochures, the exact price! Nobody does this. Right away you are aware of what your costs are! Who does this? Exceptional staff, friendly, caring, smiling (and we didn't even schedule an appointment). It felt very active here. Very ""into"" community. My mom is an active senior, a hard working woman who loves to live life. We were both quite happy with our visit here. It became one of the top on our list.
