I like it here at Haven Health Cottonwood. It's nice here. There are nice people and there are people who take care of you. There are rooms with two people in them. There's a Jack-and-Jill bathroom, so the other room has to be on the other side, and they would share a bathroom if they can. They're nice rooms. They have dressers, drawers where you could put stuff in, and half a closet for each person. If the family wants to do laundry, they can do the laundry, so they don't have to get their laundry done here. They have games and recreations. The arts and crafts took a little stop here for a little bit because of the COVID situation. There are three of us that hang out together most of the time and we play games. We got other games that people could play, too. We can meet in the big dining hall. There are two TV rooms where we can play in and stuff. There are puzzles here, and there are lots of books and magazines to read. If you're wheelchair-bound or walker bound, any one of them can sit down and join us in a game or something or get a game of their own with other people. And so, there are lots of different things that they could do. The staff members are great. They're very funny, they interact with you, and they teach you. They're good. They serve meals three meals a day, and they have snacks, too. The food is good. I like it. There are some things that I can't have because of the medicine that I take, but we have another menu. You fill out these little papers way before the meal starts, and so it gives the cooks time to know what to give you. You put your name and your room number on it and stuff. You can pick from a hot dog, a hamburger, a chef's salad, a cottage cheese and fruit plate, a grilled cheese, or PB and J sandwich. If you don't like the stuff that they're serving that day, you can put in a slip of paper for one of those things. It's a separate menu. They keep the place very clean, too. And the people are really good.

I'm at The Haven Health Cottonwood for rehab. They do good work and we have reasonably good food. They try to keep the variety going and they will cater to your particular needs, so the food is good. The care with the nurses is good, and I also have been getting exercises. I have both physical therapy and occupational therapy. Occupational being like how well can you handle yourself in the bathroom and stuff like that. Both kinds of therapy that I'm getting are good. They have good people that come around every day and help me with exercising, and so on, and they do their best to help with pain control because they do have some pain issues. So, they've been very good at that, and very cooperative. The upkeep is good. I was here once before actually, earlier this year for a different condition. They keep the place up clean, and they're well organized in terms of scheduling and everything else that I've been involved with. The physical appearance is good. They've got a courtyard with nice plants in the middle and good exposure too with glass doors into the courtyard from pretty much most of the rooms that I can tell. They've got a dining hall, a conference room, and they've got a gym. The same kind of stuff that I've been exercising in my room is what they offer in the gym itself. Everybody that I've been involved with is friendly and helpful. If I have a request, as a general rule, they'll comply pretty much immediately. However, in any institution like this where there are lots and lots of patients, you don't expect to get everything you want instantly, because they're busy with other people, too. But as a general thing, everybody that I've been involved with, the different nurses and the different people that come in to serve the meals and so on, they're all friendly and helpful. I don't have a good comparison except for how I would eat myself, but they have relatively good food. I would say they do their best to provide a good variety so that nothing gets boring. You do have a choice if you don't like the main thing that they're serving. You generally can have some kind of alternative for any meal that shows up. There are some things that I know about nutrition though that I'm sure they could do better on. The first time I was here, I talked with the nutritionist that works here, and she said there are things that they can do better. I don't think that they're given quite enough money to do everything they'd like to do. There's a cable TV set in every room, and they provide books and Sudoku puzzles if that's what you like. They try to keep you involved in whatever way you want to be. If all you want to do is read a book of your own, you can do that. They do their best to accommodate you.
