I have toured the Primrose Retirement Community of Wasilla. It seems very attractive and very inviting, I liked it a lot. The staff I met there was great. They were accommodating and very helpful. The room was not spacious, but it was large enough to accommodate a queen-sized bed. It was bright, cheerful, very clean, and it was attractive. I didn't try the food but it looked very inviting. They had an ice cream parlor, a game room, they have a TV room, a beauty parlor, a restaurant or cafeteria, and there's a social area. The upkeep is very good.

We're on a waiting list with Primrose Retirement Community of Wasilla. We like that it is a larger facility and they have a larger staff, so there will be more people for my mother to interact with. She's a social butterfly, so she loves to visit. Also, they have medical staff on hand, so I know she will be taken care of that way. They monitor the guests by the toilet flushes, which I thought was unusual, but pretty smart. They said, if they don't flush their toilet by 10:30 in the morning, they will check on it for sure. The toilets have a monitor on them, and if they are not used, they will set off an alarm at the nurses' station at 10:30, saying either she's sleeping in late or she hasn't used the bathroom, that they need to check on her. They had one and two-bedroom apartments. They are rather large, which is nice. They are unfurnished, so you will have to provide your own furniture. They have a kitchenette. My mom just wants her own private bedroom and bathroom. She wants a table to do her jigsaw puzzles on. She won't need much of her furniture. It is a two-story facility. They have elevators for access to all the floors. The main dining room is on the main floor and it's nice and large, they encourage people to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner there to meet other people, visit and talk. The grounds were nice. They have ample parking, so if my mom wants to keep her vehicle, she can. They have parking there for her and they have a garage available to her if she wants to park inside the garage to be out of the weather. People were reading, they had a library there, and they had several activities scheduled throughout the day. One thing that they did have, which was nice, is they have a full-time lady that comes in four days a week. She is a beautician, so she will do hair or trim nails or anything else for the ladies or the guys can get a haircut, too, if they want. It's part of the service they provide. If my mom decided she wants to color her hair or change her hair or whatever, she just has to talk to the lady and see what she can do. The rooms were nice. My mom is looking forward to going there once they have an opening.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The facility is beautiful, peaceful, quiet, and clean. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well furnished and equipped. In particular, the guest room for visiting relatives or friends at reasonable nightly rate. Amenities such as laundry rooms on every floor, a cafeteria, gym room, walking trails, lounge room, free parking, covered garages at nominal fee, additional storage spaces, various social events, include 2 meals and weekly housekeeping and more.

The people at Primrose are great. They take care of my folks and they're there when they need them. We don't have to worry about anything. It's all working out well. They were in a little apartment that is set up like a little resort. It is really a nice place. It's the nearest and the best one in the state.
