The rooms are clean and they are allowed to make it personal with pictures, flowers and wall hangings. When I visit, the staff is friendly and helpful. Our group came to sing songs before covid and they gathered the ones who wanted to sing in the activity room. We had a high day with the participants. I know they enjoy singing and Bible talks. The residents that came in, wanted company and loved seeing the young people come in to sing and talk with them. Because of covid restrictions, now I visit with a mask on and a partner. When entering facility, one can see that it is clean and welcoming. The family/ dining room looks like home because there is a long beautiful table with chairs for family. I don't believe I have ever seen it used for family functions though. As one walks down the hall, there is a large bird aviary with small adorable birds in it chirping. I like that. I am always greeting very friendly from the staff when i walk in. The activity planner was very friendly and helpful too. I do think that more care should be given to the menu because there are those who may be diabetic or other restrictions and are served meals that contain large amounts of carbohydrates and not enough leafy green vegetables. My friend who is now deceased, did not eat the bread and potatoes because she said she was diabetic. Overall, Magnolia Health and Rehab gets a high approval rating from me.

The facility is very nice and clean,so are the rooms. However, the staff was the problem.Alot of them were very lazy and would take hours to come to the patient's room. The call lights would be going off and many CNAs could be seen outside taking a smoke break. My family member would smell like urine when I would visit them. Additionally,my family member would say they asked for a bed bath, but would never get one. They also had a very bad attitude when I came to visit.I honestly think some of them chose the wrong field to work in.

Magnolia Haven is a good facility, but I think more attention should be paid to the residents. I understand that the ratio between the residents and the nurses and the nursing aides is challenging to provide more time for some of the residents who require more observation and care, but they need to pay more attention to charts because some residents cannot feed themselves. The food needs to be treated and broken down for the residents to eat and also they have to be fed. Also, if residents need help, that needs to be paid more attention to because I noticed the buzzer was not working in one of the rooms. Everything that has electrical power should work, and they need to check that in the morning and also in the evening. When I was in the room, I tried calling the nurses or the nursing assistant, and no one was coming. They should do an inventory of the items that are in the rooms that are supposed to assist the residents. They need to inspect those to make sure they are working. They need to do a daily inspection and checklist on the items that the residents have to use.
