Other

My mother was at PCHC until her death in August, 2020. She enjoyed her stay there and was well-cared for. I can’t say enough good things about the CNAs, with a couple exceptions, the caretakers, and Dr Z, the doctor who visited weekly and was quick to respond to questions or concerns. Mother had been at a memory care facility in Columbus before her move to PCHC. The difference in care was dramatic and so very comforting. I didn’t have to worry about her from my home in Texas. Her room was small but fine for her needs, the facility is clean and fresh-smelling, the activities, like Bingo, church services, and occasional outside gatherings, are fun and sufficient in number, and the residents make friends of other residents and staff. Mother loved having her hair done in the salon. I would recommend PCHC to anyone looking for a a skilled-nursing facility for their loved ones.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband is at Phenix City Health Care. It's very clean, they take good care of him, and people are very nice to him. He told me the food is very, very good. The staff is also very cooperative. Whenever I go there and do his washing, and I ask them to take it back for me, they cooperate very nicely. The care is good too. The only problem is that they don't tell me all the extras that I have to pay for. The building is extremely clean and very well-furnished. The part that we've been in is furnished comfortably. It has a fireplace in there which makes you feel that you're at home. I've been going over every day to visit him, and at 3:00 p.m. there's a loudspeaker saying they're having this kind of activity in the dining room. They seem to have a lot of activities.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father came in ambulatory and left in an ambulance three days later! The rooms need painting, roaches in his room, the food was nasty and not fit for consumption. He had diverticulitis...caused by a change in diet. They fed him a bag of chips, mashed potatoes and water one evening. I found him with bloody sheets that they expected him to sleep on. They promised to change him every two hours..it was five hours one day. He is a ww2, korea and vietnam veteran and to be treated like this is nothing short of pittyful! The director was unavailable the night I found him in distress and the nurse refused to get her on the phone saying she doesnt work weekends. It was 3 days later when she did call. What kind of director is unreachable in times like that? My father is now bedridden and its all because of his terrible experience he had in that dump! Stay away!!!!!

I am a friend or relative of resident

What do I say. The staff has been friends and like Family for over 3 years with my mother. And before that with my grandmother. My Grandmother was there about 15 years ago . When she was 100 I put a hook out back with a flower basket . The basket still has flowers.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother was brought here for rehab following brain surgery at Emory in Atlanta. She was doing well & on the mend. When we buzzed for a nurse, it took 20-30 minutes for a response. She is diabetic & I had to ask for her blood sugar to be checked. They said it was fine-this was around 7pm the first evening of her arrival. They did not check her again until 5am. Her blood sugar had dropped down to 30, & she was unresponsive. She is now in a coma at the Medical Center with more than likely irreparable brain damage. This was caused by the precipitous drop in her sugar, & it never would have happened if she had been checked every 4 hours as the hospital did. I would not recommend this place to anyone, as their negligence destroyed my mother's life.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I have been visiting my grandmother at this facility for over 7 years. The staff is consistently understanding of our needs regarding her. The facility has regular activities for the residents to participate in like Bingo Night, Bible study and even gospel music entertainment. The staff host a wonderful Family Day once a year. Free food is provided along with face painting/hair painting for the kids (and some adults, lol). A live band is also usually on-site for Family Day. It is a fun day that I look forward to every day. Overall, this is a very nice place for your loved one. The staff is attentive to their needs and will call if any emergency arises. The management team is responsive to family needs and concerns and will try to assist in every way possible. I'm glad my grandmother has a nice and comfortable place to live during her golden years.

I visited this facility

I went to place a client here, but found out they didnt have anymore empty beds. I would see this as a good thing, means business is good.
