My dad moved into Oak Grove Inn. The atmosphere is the best feature of that place. It has sidewalks with oak lime trees. It has two ponds across the street that are part of the property with walking trails. It's not just a building on a concrete slab within a neighborhood. The staff was the most engaging and most personable. The menu is outstanding, and the selection is very diverse. They have an onsite pharmacy, a pub for Friday afternoon happy hour, and a theater. They have a garden that the residents can participate in. We ultimately chose it because it was the best choice for my dad. We seem to be happy with everything so far.

We were very impressed with Oak Grove Inn. Everything was great, even the price was affordable to my in-laws. Even though it's the first one that we've visited, we liked it. We want an apartment that has a kitchenette, like a one-bedroom with a living room, a walk-in bathroom, a walk-in shower, and no tub. So, we're very specific to what we're looking for and Oak Grove Inn met everything. The only thing is they don't have any availability right now, which works out for us, because we're not there yet. We're just starting our search. The next step for my in-laws is a visit. We want them to visit Oak Grove and any other places that we want to make a tour with. We were invited to go there for a meal and we have their week's menu. They told us about all the different activities that they have and how open it is as a facility for families to come and visit. With my mother-in-law's situation, she still drives, so the option would be she could do that or she could do the transportation five days a week if she's there. She just had to schedule that. That also was appealing that if she didn't want to be the one driving, everything was all-inclusive. That's the best part, too, that I liked about the place. Everything about it was very appealing and it's what my in-laws would probably choose when they get there. They said they would be the first one on the waiting list for the next availability. They have separate areas for both independent and assisted living, but both areas are open to everyone. So, we toured everywhere. We were there when people were having lunch. The atmosphere was just amazing. They're updating one of their screened rooms/sunrooms to a therapy room with equipment and everything. They told us about the updates that they're starting to do. Everything else that was included was laundry, clean linens, some towels, the housekeeping, and all of that. What was impressive is that my father-in-law has Parkinson's and as he deteriorates, the price is not going to increase. If my mother-in-law also gets to the point where she's going to need more help, they're not going to increase the price because of it. I like the fact that everything is all-inclusive. The staff was all so friendly and Amanda specifically, was the one who gave us the tour, and she was very helpful. She asked us a lot of questions and we had a lot of questions for her and she was able to answer everything. So, she's very knowledgeable. We met the gentleman who runs the place as well. We were just very impressed. The facility didn't smell like a nursing home. It was amazing and that was one of the things we didn't want, a nursing home atmosphere. It's assisted living with their apartments. The residents were free to walk around based on their physical ability and they could go from one area to the other with all the accommodations, if they needed, like they had the appropriate ramps where they needed to be and all of that.

My mom has moved into Oak Grove Inn. It has a very homey feeling. They have an extremely nice staff, and it's very clean. They have really good food, and that makes a difference to some people. It's just all around really nice. Her room is very spacious. She has a two-room apartment, so she has a living room and a bedroom. The closet is tremendous, it also has a small kitchen and all the conveniences she could want. It's very comfortable. The staff, if you're in the halls, they speak to you and tell you to have a nice day or whatever. Every time they come in, they tell my mom their name, so she can get to know them better. Everybody there is just super nice. They just kind of go out of their way to be nice to family, friends, whoever. The food is delicious. I have eaten there with her, and they serve three good balanced meals a day. For lunch and dinner you have a choice. Every time you have at least two choices, or you can always get a burger or a salad or something like that if you don't like or want anything that's on the menu for that day. It's well prepared and very tasty. Their calendar has something on it every day of the week. All month long they have exercise. They have game afternoons, like this afternoon they're taking the bus over to Prattville to Pumpkin Parade to see that. About once a month they have a surprise drive; they can get on the bus, and they don't know where they're going. They just ride around, and who knows where they may go before they come back. They also take them to shopping places, play bingo, and all sorts of games. In the assisted living side they have a happy hour once a week on Fridays. You name it, they do it.

Oak Grove Inn had a sink and a refrigerator and a little kitchen area in the room. I really liked it, and it's the best out of the ones we visited. It's out of the city. It's quiet and secluded out by itself. There are houses around, but not right up against the nursing home. You go through locked gates going in, so it's very secure. It was very nice. One of the men that's on the board showed us around and told us everything there was to tell. They had a nice sunroom that you could go and sit in, which was air-conditioned. They had such a small closet for a couple to live in. The facility was very nice and to me it was A+. They had 3 meals a day. It's very clean. The people were so friendly. They have buildings with different degrees of people, but they were all just so friendly. We stopped by the dining hall, and there were a bunch of ladies sitting and talking. We stopped and talked to them, and they're very friendly and they said they love it there. We met a couple, and they each have an apartment there next door to each other.
