My dad moved into Gulf Coast Health and Rehabilitation, LLC. We like it. They are very personable. My dad's been taken care of. He got a really good roommate who we just happened to know, so we were very lucky. The place is very nice. The workers are very aware of him and pay attention to him. He doesn't make his own social situation. You have to be social with him, and they've been very open. He laughs with them. The place is clean as far as I can tell. I only get there at night, but that's fine. He loves the food here. The roommate has been wonderful too. I have only been in his room, and he eats in his room. He hasn't gone to the dining area, as far as I know. But he ate every bit of his supper, so that's good.

I wanted to let everybody know that I'm home safe and sound and I am recovering well. I also wanted to let people know that if you have any friends and or family in the Mobile area do not and I mean under any circumstances whatever it takes do not send them to Gulf Coast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Allow me to explain myself with the following points .1 lack of care and communication among the CNA staff only about 10% of the current CNAs if that actually care for the patients and meet their needs. I myself waited 3 days for fresh Linens decent food and a basin so that I have to give myself a bed bath. I was not even given a welcome kit as they refer to it which is shampoo a hairbrush comb body wash deodorant those sorts of things that was not there. I will further add to this by saying that they do not care how you feel they are more concerned with politics and their own daily lives as they sit and scroll on their cell phones. I actually witnessed a woman with dementia being mocked and laughed at by one of the members. Now ask yourself what would you do in that situation if that was your grandmother or your mother. .2. The physical therapy staff there and the occupational staff is great that is the only upside to this facility along with management they are very understanding but there is a caveat to that the management may be understanding but if they see this stuff going on under their noses why aren't they doing anything about it. Such as a very caring CNA that I noticed had to run to somebody's room because they had flipped their wheelchair and she immediately ran back up to the desk and asked for assistance because it was a rather large patient. The other CNA that was just sitting there scrolling on their phone just sat there doing nothing and one of the administrators had to run down the hall to help when the CNA was questioned as to why she sat there her response was I couldn't read her mind I didn't know what she wanted. That's not the point when somebody is saying they need assistance in there in the medical field you run with them you don't just sit there. I understand that the management staff is very stressed because they get the brunt of everything that happens but they really should be keeping it closer eye on things considering they're on cameras and I will move on to my next point with that. .3. Speaking of the cameras. I do enjoy my cigars everybody knows that. So after physical therapy couple days ago I decided I wanted a cigar because they were doing a pet therapy day and I didn't want to be in the building too many memories about losing my beloved princess and I just couldn't take being in the building that's it is what it is. Back to my original point I had asked to go outside to smoke and I was told I needed my Aid to go with me well my Aid told me that she did not like smoke so I ended up calling a neighbor someone I knew a friend and asked him if he would mind coming up there and chilling with me for a bit so I could smoke so he came up there and we were going to go to the outdoor patio where myself and my attorney sat the night of the election and had a cigar as well well as we proceeded to go out to the patio we were told we could not go out there and when we asked why. The RN that was on duty said well the night shift is not going to remember that you're out there and you'll be stuck. I literally looked at this person and said first off I don't have dementia secondly I don't have Alzheimer's furthermore I have a cell phone I can call the front desk and have somebody let me back in if needed with my friend and I will also add you have security cameras so you can see me outside so instead of having me sit out in the rain and become soaking wet you could have just let us go on the patio but no you had to have it your way. This is why I say management needs to further investigate the cameras it seems as if they want to look one way and just ignore everything else. I hope to God none of my friends and family ever end up in a place like that because it is absolutely horrible. The state of Nursing and care has absolutely gone so far downhill in Alabama it's not funny. And for those of you wondering the name and address of the facility is Gulf Coast Nursing and Rehabilitation located off of Grelot Road Mobile Alabama 36695. I would like to add the physical therapist Michelle and the occupational therapist Todd along with the other physical therapist Lisa were incredible the CNA that I spoke of before her name is charity she was great so was Dee like I said there's a couple of great ones in this rotten bunch and as far as Administration and management Robin she is good she listened everything I had to say although more needs to be done about watching those cameras and making sure that the CNAs do their jobs instead of sitting on their cell phones. With that I wish you a good day stay safe stay happy and stay healthy

My sister is still at Gulf Coast Health and Rehabilitation, LLC getting skilled therapy. It's very clean, and the staff are mostly friendly. That's the best thing I can say about it. The worst thing is that there is a lack of communication in some areas, and then also when you try to reach them, they don't have any voicemail on their phone. They don't answer the phone, and you can't even leave a message. Some departments are not communicating well, not giving updates, or whatever. There is a wound care nurse who calls me faithfully twice a week, and I just appreciate that. But it's a clean place, and for the most part, everyone's very friendly. Some staff go overboard, and others don't do much of anything. I haven't tried the food. I've seen the food when they brought it in. I see the menus posted all the time. They had a Mardi Gras party in which they were serving traditional party food with no concern for diabetic patients whatsoever. It was candy and cake and some other things. And they were passing out full-sugar sodas and everything else. Also, a couple of days ago, my sister called me up, and she said, 'I got a lousy dinner. There's only broccoli and carrots and mashed potatoes. There's no meat at all. Will you go and get me a hamburger?' So their menus seem to be very balanced, but they don't have many choices. If they don't like a certain thing, it's not like there's an alternative or anything. They are transporting my sister to her doctor's appointment only because she can't get out of the wheelchair. There's a courtyard they can go outside to. It's very secure in that they have codes to get out or you have to have a staff member to let you out. They have speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. But I don't think she gets bathed regularly.

My dad was there for almost 2 years, and I thought he was getting great attention and care until the last trip to the emergency room for serious UTI, he was constipated (backed up badly) and a LARGE "bed sore" along with a very foul odor! I was actually rotting! The paramedics brought it to my attention when he ended up going to "The Retreat" where he died 14 days later! I refused to let him go back there!!! I had no idea that the sore they were telling me about was bigger than a tennis ball and you could actually put your fist in it. You could actually see all the way to his spine! My dad was bed ridden and had to be fed. I really wish they would have showed this to me or sent him somewhere for the proper care he needed! He passed on 9/19/23 and had suffered for a long time!!! His body was full of sepsis and was very sick!!! I could not stand to see him suffer anymore and he did not want too either! That is not life for anyone. Please do not trust these people totally like I did. Wish I could take it back and had seen his back side before he was very sick and too late! I have to live with that guilt for trusting them!

"they" say first impressions are everything and in this case it was and not improving (much). Staff seemed ok but after requesting for something over 3-times and nothing happens - gets on ones nerves. I really don't like being brushed off to what may seem to them something minor. I informed that my mother has a CPAP she is required to wear each night and I can see that at least 2-nights in a row - it wasn't put on her. She informed and requested a stool softener / laxative or something since she hasn't gone in over a week - and just get 'lip service' ('ok'... or 'someone will be in here shortly'... ) and nothing happens! From this I can see that communication between shifts is a problem since the info I received today was that 'no one told me anything'. With that, "I will make sure we start her on something". as of this writing now- nothing has changed! just words!

The worst facility I’ve felt with. Caregivers are BEYOND RUDE!! Everyone has an attitude. Complain constantly about other staff and residents. An don’t bother if you need help in a hurry. I wouldn’t bring the mockingbird I hate outside my window back here. They seriously need to rethink their strategy as a business and healthcare providers because what’s going inside those walls isn’t going to get it.

Nurses came in and turned call light off and never addressed patient’s needs. Some nurses were mean and had bad attitude toward patient. Food served cold to patient multiple times. See CMS review of facility. Never again will we use this facility.

Mom got sick and she went to Cogburn Health and Rehab West. We had a terrible experience. She was in there for four days. They left her out in the hallways with no oxygen, and she almost died. They gave her the wrong medicine. The staff are lazy. The rooms were not luxurious, but they are clean.
