My sister-in-law was at Gadsden Health and Rehab Center. They were good. They had rehab on one section of the building and then they had long-term and short-term care. The building looked great. It was all on one level, no stairs, and the food was good. The staff was fantastic. The ones that were in long-term care that could get out of bed, do crafts, Christmas activities, and Thanksgiving activities. It was a great place.

My mother-in-law is getting rehab at Gadsden Health and Rehab Center. So far, it's been real good. They've been good to communicate when I called, and they've always called me back. She seems well-pleased there, and as of yet we don't have any complaints. The staff is very attentive. The only thing is that they don't have a whole lot of fresh fruits, but the food is good. If she doesn't like what they have, they offer her something else. The therapy department has been very helpful, and they're meeting her needs as of yet. She has not had any complaints to us, and even though we're limited in visits, we still go and make the 15-minute visits. The staff has been very accommodating, any questions we've had they answered, and they call us any time there's been a change with anything. So far, they've done what they're supposed to do. It's just expensive a little too much. I had to do window visits, and I've only been allowed into one room when I visited. The activities are limited due to COVID. They're just doing individual activities in their rooms, and physical therapy is coming to their rooms instead of the residents going to the gym.

This place is horrible! My cousin (who I care for) was in there for 21 days. He was supposed to be taken to therapy 6 days a week. He never got the 6 days! The last 3 days he was there they claimed he he had mrsa in his incision from a 4 week old surgery. Funny that spot was pretty well healed, no redness or swelling. It looked awesome! Even his nurses said it looked great. They are just after money and don’t care about the people! They told me he could come home and he wouldn’t need someone to be with him all the time. He was supposedly safe to be home alone. He was 100% bed ridden. Couldn’t even sit on the side of the bed on his own. On what planet would that be okay for someone like that to be left home alone? If a fire occurred he would have no way to get out. If you love your family members do not let them be put in this hell hole! They won’t even help people use the restroom instead they put them in diapers. Lazy people!!!!! Just after your money!!!

The facility is open and hardly ever has an odor when you walk in the door after walking through their lobby. The nurses there are all very professional. The patient's care is directly related to whomever they have as their personal CNA. Out of 1 to 10, I would rate 80% of the CNA's as caring and doing the best they can, provided the patients are always in need. The nurse supervisors are especially supporting if you need their help for anything. The only things I would change as a person who visits there often through my church, would be the CNA's and Nurses wear a friendly expression. Especially the ladies who work in the lobbies with the patients. As a visitor who wants to lift people up, I believe all employees should try to make theirs the friendliest place in Etowah County. I visit all of them and hope this is helpful information if you are interested in placing a family member there.

Gadsden is a much older place but my brother showed to me a plaque on the wall. It’s a five star unit and that’s for 2014, I guess they recently got inspected. It did seem very nice, clean and no bad smell. The rooms are roughly the same size as the assisted living maybe not quite as big. There are a lot of people running around busy. I felt the staff was nice and very friendly. They recognized my brother and there were some others spoke to him. I would recommend this place.

My 82 year old mother went to rehab here after having full knee replacement on her right knee. She could not walk at all after being there 21 days. Only after coming home and having home therapy come out 3 days a week was she finally able to walk with a walker. Another friend of my mothers went to rehab here after having hip replacement surgery. She too could not walk after 21 days and was able to get into another local rehab.
