I visited this facility

This was by far the worse facility i have ever seen and the management is horrible the director of nursing doesn't know how to talk to people i would recommend this place get shut down. I say this place deserves a zero star rating. I witness myself a light atay on for 30 minutes and staff constantly walk passed it the administrator his self walked passed the light twice i went to tell someone about that person needing help and i got attitude from a staff member that they will get it when they have time.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother had a stroke eight years ago, she had recently fallen and fractured her leg. She in this place for Rehab. Ever since her stroke she has had a week bladder, we ask the aids to help her on the bed pan they may or may not show up it may be 20 mins or more before they can get to her. She's only been here a few days and it's already bad. They come in to give her her meds and she's had a stroke her left side is paralyzed, they don't care or don't realize she can't hold anything in her left hand. They just come in and try to hand her the meds like she's got two working hands. I don't understand at all why this place is still open, these poor people who have no one to speak up for them it's really really sad.

I visited this facility

I have a family member in this facility. She is in Memory Care for demintia. If I could I would move her out this minute. Her health has declined drastically in the month since she has been in here. She is always drugged. Spends a great deal of time in. Bed. She cannot go outdoors unless a family member is with her. The workers do not seem to care about the patients. They have a bracelet on her ankle "so they can keep up with her". The floors are so slippery they have tape on the floor to help keep patient from falling. A family member came about 400 miles to see her and was told to leave because it was lunch time, it was two o'clock in the afternoon. This facility is old but that is no excuse for the smells and uncleanliness. At two o'clock in the afternoon two days ago her bed was without linens, why? The first and last time I visited her I had 2 different patients come up to me wanting help. That does not concern me I have been around other facilities in my life. The concern is when i finally found someone to help their response was, " they always want something".

I visited this facility

My mother is getting ready to be placed into Golden Living Center Foley. It is the closest one to us that we were recommended for. The staff seemed to be really nice and helpful. They have an exercise room, and then they have little entertainment areas. They also have their own van.

Some of the nurses do not properly care for the residents. If the resident ask for medication some refuse to give it to them and leave the resident in pain. Another nurse has an aid give out certain medication to the residents. Some residents go a long time without eating. By the time they do. Their food is very cold and the aids will not warm it up for them. Some residents are left soak and wet all day without being changed. This is a horrible facility and I would never recommend anyone to send their loved ones here

Golden Living Center - Foley was excellent. The staff did all they could to help Dad on the rehab side until they moved him to the nursing care side. Dad had a private room. The food was always brought to his room because he was unable to go to the dining room. They did all they could to get him sustenance and nourishment. The facility itself was clean but needed updating because it is very old.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My husband stayed at Golden Living Center. As far as the facility itself goes, on a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a -1. The building was very old and very much in need of repair and updating. It was almost like a third-world country. You would’nt expect to find such a poorly equipped facility like that in the United States. As far as the staff is concerned, especially the actual rehab personnel, they were way above average. They were super and very caring. I just can’t praise them highly enough. They were excellent except there really were hardly any real nurses on staff after 6 in the evening. The administrator of the facility was very responsive to anything that was complained about. He couldn’t have been better. There were some days that the food was fairly good for that type of facility, so food was average.

I visited this facility

My grandma and my mother-in law were here at Golden Living Center. It’s a really old building. A lot of the staff there are really nice and they look to really take care of the residents, but I would not recommend them for the long term. It's a very busy place, like they always have something going on there, but it’s not the cleanest but not the worst. The caregivers were all very friendly.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My grandmother has been here 10 years and I find all staff to be very caring and professional. I never met a Haitian or a nurse named Margo. The previous review must be a different facility. A great place with many wonderful staff.

Other

I was a voluenteer as a minister, doing two church services each week for 3 1/2 years. I saw the nursing staff giving great care of all the residents, making their stays there as best as possible with different activities and such. Great care was taken to keep the place clean and orderly.

I am a friend or relative of resident

I have a relative that lives at the Foley she has lived there for about 7 years I find the administration to be most helpful whereas some of the staff tend to worry me. In the time I have noticed that as some of the staff N.A. dont act very caring & tend to help themselves sometimes to things if they think there is no family coming around. I also find that the majority of the staff are of haitian descent & if they like someone in the facility & they are haitian they are more helpful towards them. The nurses that have been there some are very nice & efficient I believe Margo was the best of them after she left the attitudes of the rest of the staff were barely caring. I hope that the facility improves staff wise & the prejudice ceases.
