I visited this facility

Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing & Rehabilitation Center didn't feel closed in. It felt very open. When you first walked in it was very appealing, and attractive, with a nice sitting area. The staff was very friendly. My overall feeling was above average. We did not get a chance to taste the food, but they brought some plates out because it was around meal time, and it looks pretty typical. There's meat and a couple of vegetables. They have an outdoor screened-in area.

I visited this facility

I toured Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. It was a very good experience. I wish I could get my son in there. It seemed like a very good facility judging from the outside and from the hospitality that I received from the tour. It was pleasant, clean, refreshing, and pleasing to the eyes. They have semi-private rooms and private rooms. They have activities. It was a great layout.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I was at Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing & Rehabilitation Center LLC for three weeks. I was at The Summit Rehab part. The care was excellent. Nurses and aides were quite responsive. If for any reason I had to do the call button, they were prompt to answer. The rehab facility itself was excellent. The therapist worked with me and I did make great strides. Everyone I ran into was very caring and supportive. It was clean and had a pleasant atmosphere. Initially, I had a double room, but within three days, I was moved to a private room. The rooms looked out onto a courtyard with trees and birdfeeders. There's a built-in bureau and closet, and bathroom with shower. It was quite comfortable. Each room had its own thermostat or heat and air. There was an activity center with two activities scheduled each day. I participated in some of them if I wasn't in therapy. I participated in bingo and I participated in the Valentine's Day party where they crowned a king and a queen. There is a permanent residence unit, and they were mainly the ones in the activities. They had a library where I was free to borrow books. They had a common area where you could sit and visit with visitors if you did not want to visit in your room. As part of my therapy, I was able to walk around outside when the weather was nice and that felt good to be outside and look at the flowers that were beginning to bloom. They have a room for residents with a refrigerator where you could go get ice cream, sandwiches, snacks, and things like that if you did not like the meal, and that was nice.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My aunt was in this facility for 6 weeks. She did not get a shower the entire time! They also discouraged getting dressed, leaving her in hospital gowns. I understand they were short staffed (due to covid) but we were not able to visit and she got poor care. I would not recommend this for your loved one.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father was in the rehab for around 2 months. They are severely understaffed and should not be taking on the amount of patients they have. The patients are lucky to have one shower a week. They send my dad home with a few days supply of his medication and he did not get his medication the night before he was released. The unopened packet was still in with his meds. This leaves me to wonder how many times this happened. He also has a peg tube in his stomach they never cleaned and was supposed to remove but did not do either. I suggest using a different rehab for your loved ones especially if they are dependent on others for personal care.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My sister has been in Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing & Rehabilitation Center LLC. The care is terrible. She said if they don't come, she can ring the bell; still nobody shows up. Terrible. The place looks nice on the outside. I just visited her room, it's fine if you're sick; it is a place to be, I guess. My sister won't eat the food. She hates most foods. Her room seems dark and dreary. She's in a bigger room; it is a single room by herself. They did weight lifting. They have a weight room, but there's nobody in there.

My dad was in Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for rehab. They were all very kind and caring, and they let us know when things changed, as we could not come in. They allow you to call, ask questions, talk to the nurses, and get updates, and if anything happens they always call and let us know.

My brother was in Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for long-term care. Our experience was very good. The facility was great. The staff was caring and excellent. They kept him comfortable and they took him to his exercises daily. He was in a private room. They have an exercise room there.

My terminally ill mother had several stays in this facility. The staff was outstanding on all levels especially in regards to nursing and CNA care. We never had long waits for care, the food was healthy and balanced, and the rehab center is state of the art. I would recommend Mitchell Hollingsworth to anyone in the area needing short or long term care.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Mitchell-Hollingsworth has been one of the nicest nursing homes in this area for decades. They've made vast improvements over the years as most nursing homes thankfully have. This past spring, my sister stayed there for a few weeks following a hospitalization. There is no unpleasant odor in the facility and the rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. The building design of Mitchell-Hollingsworth is very lovely and I'm happy to see how well they are keeping it up. The entrance to the nursing home is a large rotunda with a waterfall. Residents can visit there as well. The nursing home has an area for dining if residents want to socialize at mealtime. There is also a library, and a recreation room for socializing. Several entertainment acts come there regularly and perform in the recreation room. There is a lovely garden in the center of the building where residents and guests can visit as well. I appreciate that they have a safe enclosed area where you can be outdoors as well

I visited this facility

Mitchell-Hollingsworth is overall a pretty good assisted living facility. While working and volunteering there I would say the overall experience was great. It seemed as though the residents enjoyed the facilities and services provided. Family members of the residents also always seemed pleased with the facility. The way things are organized at Mitchell-Hollingsworth is fairly well. There are plenty of activities for the members to take place in as well as several laid back socializing areas where residents can meet and speak with their friends and family. It does not seem as a hospital as some facilities do. There is a nice homey feel to Mitchell-Hollingsworth. It is also located in a historic part of Florence so when people go to visit family members they are treated to some historic scenery around Mitchell-Hollingsworth. If I ever had to have a family member in an assisted living facility, Mitchell-Hollingsworth would definitely be a top choice of mine.

I visited this facility

I worked at this nursing home as a volunteer candy striper during the 1990s and enjoyed helping work with the elderly patients by providing them with amenities that they needed on a daily basis. My great grandmother also stayed at this nursing home several years ago before she died at the facility. She was well taken care of from everything I could see. The facilities were modern, up to date and she had round the clock care. I don't remember any negatives as my great grandmother never had any complaints other than she would rather be at home...like anyone would. The staff seemed to be doing the best they could with everything they had to work with. This is the reason the facility is still in operation after many, many years of service to the people of Florence, AL who need assistance in the later years of their lives.

Friend or relative of resident

Mitchell Hollingsworth assisted living and nursing home of Florence, Alabama is a very interesting facility. My great aunt was recently placed there to be rehabilitated. The facility is very clean but it has a lingering odor throughout the entire building. The staff was decent but not the best that they could have been. My aunt complained of them forgetting to check on her quite frequently, but said the nurses were very nice when they did come to check on her and give her medications. Overall, the facility is clean and the staff is mediocre. If it were my choice, I wouldn't have placed my aunt or any family member there.
