My mother-in-law has been at Merry Wood Lodge Care and Rehabilitation Center for about 3 weeks now. The staff has been very kind. They all truly seem to care about the people that are there. She's in a shared room. Her area is small, but it's clean. They share a sink and a bathroom, and they have a big area where they take showers. The building itself seems a little dated. The dining room is nice and big, with high ceilings. It's also the room that they use for recreation, and they do recreation several times a day. Even if some residents can't walk, they roll them in there in a wheelchair. My mother-in-law has a social worker who maintains her care and tries to find out what fits her, not just for everybody. They're very individualized in their treatment. They kept going until they found out that she loves music. And so, they put together songs for her and gave her headphones. They just try different things, and they're very good at that. I just think that they need more staff. She was there for a week and then fell and hit her head pretty badly. I would like it if they would use alarms on the beds or use bars on the side of the beds.

We toured Merry Wood Lodge Care and Rehabilitation Center. It's very clean. The one thing that sold me on it is the smell. The smell is beautiful. It's not a filthy, nasty urine smell, or anything like that. My husband will have a roommate who is a disabled veteran. So that will help him out a lot. There are approximately only 20 people in the memory care center. The staff was wonderful.

I toured Merry Wood Lodge. I liked how close they were to my home. Their exterior area, like the little seating area for the residents, was very nice. It was like a little garden area. What I didn't like was that when I toured, the residents were all just kind of sitting in the hallways or in the common area. They kind of left them on their own devices, looking lost and confused. I can't blame the staff for this, but I also didn't like how much it felt like a hospital. The rooms were kind of crowded. They said they had single rooms, but every room I saw was a double.

I stayed here under a VA contract I was weak and unable to care for myself they provided me with therapy I am now strong enough that I was able to go home. The staff is friendly and treat you with the utmost respect and care you are not a number to them but a fellow human they take their time and don't rush the food is very good and always ask if you are full. If I had to go back to a nursing home this is the one I would choose.

My mom has been at Merry Wood Lodge Care & Rehab Center since February. I don’t like the place, but at the time, it was the only place that we had. The staff is very nice, but it's a matter of them doing their jobs. If the residents don’t want to do their rehab, they don’t force them to do the rehab. They don’t get them up out of the bed or put them in a wheelchair. They don’t put her out in the dining room. If she doesn’t want to take her pills, they won’t give her her pills. I don’t know if they’ve done any lab work since my mom was put over there. Now, she’s 5 lbs underweight, and they say that she’s not eating properly. They haven’t done anything with her. It’s really frustrating.
