Mom was at Wesley Place on Honeysuckle. The care was very personal. I had no doubts that they were taking good care of mom all the time because the nurses and the aides were very hands-on. They treated everyone like they were family. So, I was very pleased with the care and the treatment she got there. She got all the attention she needed. They went through a chef change after she arrived and the new chef was fabulous. The times that I ate with her, I enjoyed the food very much. The place was very clean. It did not smell like a nursing home or a place for sick people. They also have a skilled nursing wing and even that area was very clean and odor-free. She loved to play bingo and card games, too. She enjoyed it very much.

My mom was at Wesley Place on Honeysuckle. She was in assisted living, and she was there for 13 months. The rooms need to be updated. It's an older facility. It was lacking in certain things, for instance, the way it was laid out. My mom's room was way, way toward the back of the building. I'm pretty healthy but I was absolutely out of breath when I went from the dining hall back to her room. She was so far back that it was just almost a chore to go and go to the dining hall. It just wasn't laid out well as far as thinking of people that age walking that much. I've seen her food and I've heard her talk about it and it was lacking. Her room was a nice size room. It did not already have an emergency pull where her bed is, and I had to call and have that installed. They just didn't seem to keep things up to date. It was a fairly large room with a sliding glass door and things like that, but it wasn't laid out well as far as having the bed where they said we should put it where the call light would be. Well, you couldn't get a bed in there, so they had to do something else to get her a call light in there. I'm very surprised that was not already done, and I'm surprised it wasn't in there from previous residents, but maybe no one said anything. The facility seemed very clean. I don't think everything worked as it should. It was an older facility, so it lacked in that area. I would give a 3 on staff because there were some good people working there, and there were some that they didn't want to be there and it showed. They had a little TV room. I don't know about the activities. My mom did not do any. She moved in actually while COVID was active, and so in the beginning, they had to stay in their rooms. She never did get out and do those activities. There were some, but I just don't know what they were. They can still improve on the food, and they can update some of the things in the facility, so it is nice and bright. You don't want it to look like a nursing home. It had a little bit of a gloomy feel about it. One of the worst things was my mom complaining about the food. There were times that she didn't eat anything at all because it was not good. During the time that they were delivering the meals to their rooms during COVID, they would lose her menu, and she would have to tell them again what she wanted. In some aspects, it was organized. I would say that's mainly the kitchen, more so than nursing.

My mom has lived here 5 years and i kept hoping things would improve but it’s worse than ever. Staff is disorganized and rooms are not kept clean. Everyone pretends to be taking great care of residents but they’re neglected and I’ve seen it over and over. The care plan meetings are to cover their government paperwork and get away with the bare minimum. My mother can’t walk and they leave her sitting in the bed every day. I’m constantly begging them to get her up and she’s had to have excessive dental work because the workers are too lazy to help her brush her teeth. They hand her the toothbrush and say she can do it herself. Now with Covid she’s isolated to a room and she’s been separated from her roommate and put in an unfamiliar area-which they said they wouldn’t separate she and her friend. Today she was crying her eyes out wanting me to come inside. She complained of side pain. They never called to tell me. When she had the flu last year-my husband said she’s so sick. We’re taking her to the hospital. The nurses said they could care for her there but we insisted she be hospitalized. She was and we found out she had pneumonia with low oxygen. Dirty floors,my mom sitting alone with no help. Her call light was found on the floor many times. I have been a grizzly bear up there with staff today and today I’m seeking a better plan for my mom. This CEO should be arrested for negligence. DO NOT PUT YOUR LOVED ONE THERE!
