We met many staff at Morningside of Decatur. The head of maintenance was the first person we encountered and he assisted us checking in with Covid protocol. He sold the place immediately just by his welcoming attitude. I think that's going to be one of our first choices. We met with other members of staff there, who were equally as welcoming and as hospitable. They were remodeling and redecorating. There was a big upgrade there. It is a nice facility to start with, but it is really going to be nice once they finish that. It has an interior courtyard so that the residents could be outside, but not outside of the facility. It is a little bit supervised and a little bit more secure facility, which I really like. It was a little chaotic because of the work that was going on in some areas, but they had that contained as best they could so that they did not interfere with the residents or anybody else. It was very clean even in the midst of redecorating. We met with the head of the maintenance and the activity director. She was so energetic with such a heart and passion for what she does. She shared a little bit more of her philosophy and the philosophy of the facility as to the care of the facility. It was very impressive. There were more residents out and about during that time of the day. We just watched the interaction between different members of the staff and the actual residents, which was very impressive. The staff gave us a sample menu. I really like the fact that they have a standing alternative menu available every day for your lunch and dinner menu.

Morningside of Decatur is an assisted living facility, and it's a beautiful place. It’s great. The woman we had talked to was very nice, but we are not ready for assisted living yet. We were there at lunch time, and the food was great.

It seemed like a decent place. It was clean and decorated very nicely. They had many antiques and nice objects located throughout the place. Each room was private and could be furnished by the guest with their own items. Uncle Edward seemed to like the place, of course he would have rather been at home. The staff was courteous and attentive. The food lacked alot to be desired, i found it quite bland and barely edible. The grounds had many places to sit and chat privately. it also had a nice view of the river. All things considered, if i had to be placed in one of these facilities, I don't think I would mind it as much as some of the others I have been in before.

Morningside of Decatur was a great place for my grandmother before she passed away of cancer. The managers and staff were always careful handling grandma. They were a big part of her life because my family could not come and visit as much as we liked. Grandma was happy when the staff would come in with there radio and just spend time with her talking , sometimes she said they even danced for her, you see grandma loved the song and dance. The staff here was very professional people when it came to sensitive nature stuff like bad news from doctors visits. She had no problem opening up to the staff because there were like an extended part of her family. I credit at least 3 more years of life within grandma because of the care that morningside gave to her.
