Since 1953, Bay Area Community Services (BACS) has been providing compassionate care to preserve the health and dignity of at-risk seniors and mentally ill adults in Alameda County. Despite vast differences in their day-to-day lives, frail seniors and the mentally ill share some common characteristics: They face obstacles to independent living, they recognize that they can’t manage on their own, and they don’t always know how to ask for the help they need.

For over forty four years, Bayview Senior Services, (aka Bayview Hunters Point Multipurpose Senior Services) has responded to community needs and served as a catalyst for neighborhood activism and advocacy. Programs are designed to enhance and retain the health, quality of life, and culture of African American elders who remain as long standing members of communities in San Francisco. We believe that when older adults and people living with disabilities in African American communities are cared for with dignity, honor and respect, they will be able to age in place and maintain a strong and vibrant cultural presence in San Francisco. Our programs, which are open to all seniors and persons with disabilities, include three senior centers, nutritious meals, information/ referral, case management, adult day health care, money management, a senior ex-offender program and housing advocacy.

Thank you for visiting the Bethel Center! Since 1973, we have been providing services to adults with developmental challenges living in San Francisco and Daly City. We offer programs in two general areas: Vocational training and personal Enrichment. Our goal is to provide a nurturing, caring environment geared for addressing the specific needs of individuals whom we serve. To meet this goal we provide activities focusing on increasing work, social, independent living skills and community awareness skills. Our Enrichment program grows out of our roots as a ministry of Bethel Lutheran Church in San Francisco. The Enrichment Program focuses on enabling our participants to grow spiritually, emotionally, and, where needed, in specified behaviors. The Center is licensed as a day program by the State of California to serve adults with such developmental challenges as mental retardation and autism. Bethel Center is open to persons without regard to ethnic background, gender or religious affliation. Bethel Center is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, donations are deductible as directed by the IRS.
