My mom was there her last week of life, and the whole staff who took care of her were nothing but sweet and had so much compassion. I was there with her her when she took her last breath, and I was not prepared for it so I was very upset and the staff was so wonderful with me, and i have been receiving calls and letters from the Hospice House since she passed, it has almost been a year now but this was the best decision we ever made was putting mom in this home they took excellent care of her. Thank you all for your kindness and compassion.

At first I was very impressed with the care team at this facility. But, as time went on, I began to notice complacency and lack of providing that special care that my loved one deserves and needs. In my humble opinion, Hospice is almost set up as a place where they allow patients to just basically lay and pass away. They really don’t take that extra time or step in providing that special and/or compassionate approach. They’re very good at at providing the necessary pills and the daily routines one needs in that sort of predicament. And lastly, don’t you ever express frustrations, emotions, and sometimes anger at the things you do not approve of or question! I guess it’s hospital policy to just shut up, pay the bill, and not say a thing! The care team has either forgotten or don’t care that the family members are also dealing with the grief and sadness that comes from a loved one being there!

My father was in SECU Hospice House of Johnston Health, where he was being taken care of during his last days. The place was very nice and clean. They provided very watchful service, including TV monitoring at one time, but also other monitors. The staff was very friendly and very nice; he was a minister who sang hymns to him at the time he passed. My father's wife stayed with him for much of the time. She slept on the couch sometimes and would feed him. They were very attentive. They customized the food; most of it was mashed, but it seemed to be fairly good. The bathroom and the room were clean. The security was good. The library and the kitchen area were really good and appropriate for family reunions where a lot of people get together. It was very good. There were vending machines for rather nice things. They also provided some soft drinks in the kitchen, but mostly family members brought that in and stored it in the refrigerator.

Thank you for all your care in taking my Mom in yout facility. At such a sorrowful time we were treated graciously. We were there only a few hours but were well informed of what to expect. Thank you so much!

The care received at SECU Hospice was competent and compassionate. The facility was clean and comfortable for relatives and loved ones. But, make no mistake about it- Hospice care is for dying, not treatment. Any suggestion that something as simple as treating a urinary infection was met with the standard canned answer: "We are here only for comfort care; nothing therapeutic, even unrelated to the patient's terminal illness is considered." The patient is kept comfortable with regular injections of narcotics and tranquilizers to the point that she is no longer able to recognize or communicate with family. This is mostly as it should be, but difficult.

Warm, compassionate, caring. From what I witnessed, this hospice facility offers the best of care in every way to both the family members and the person living out their final days. I only wish every person had the opportunity to receive this kind of stellar, respectful care as they are in the process of dying. Thank you SECU Hospice House for helping make this difficult situation more bearable.

Absolutely the best place you can put your loved one to spend their final days. The most compassionate, knowledgeable, staff I have ever seen. Absolutely NOTHING like anywhere else in Johnston County...and that's a very good thing.

My mother spent the last two days of her life at this wonderful place. The staff was so caring and checked on her every hour. The environment was warm and homey unlike a hospital or nursing home. There are several common areas where family members can relax or get coffee, beverages, or snacks. I can think of no better place my mom could have spent her final days and would recommend this hospice house to anyone.

After completing a training program 5 months ago, I became a volunteer at this hospice facility. I have been nothing but impress with the care and compassion of the staff. Every effort is made to insure the comfort of the patient as well as the families and visitors. Medical as well as emotional issues are identified and addressed. The facility is very nice and well maintained. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
