The caregivers that were not a good fit just need to learn how to engage memory care clients. They need to know how to know when to offer help and when to allow them to be independent. They need to be able to understand and read a person. They are really good in the office are really good but some of caregivers have not been a good fit.

The main thing has been for evenings to be able to get my mom's dinner, ready for bed etc. She has a little mobility impairment and balance issues. Having someone here is perfect so we don't have to worry about being here to make sure she isn't going hungry. I did some scheduling and everything was very simple and straight forward.

My uncle and his partner have people coming in from Right at Home Lower of Manhattan, and they are very happy with them. They are doing a wonderful job. They are the only good ones that we have ever used. The are expensive, but they are worth the money. They spent the day with them, and they let me know that my uncle was not happy with one of them. I called them. She switched and we got a wonderful new guy. I cannot complain. He helps with whatever they need. My Uncle's partner of 54 years just got out of rehabilitation because he had an embolism on his lung and they are helping out with him too. They just add on the cost, so instead of $32 an hour, now it is $40 an hour. That is not bad. All around, they have been wonderful, and it has been over a month now. I communicate with Joy and she's wonderful. I just call or send an email and she responds right away. The people that they hire, more or less, speak English, so there are no language barriers. The caregivers are very nice, very patient, and wonderful. With two of them, I have been to doctor's visits and all went well.

I feel like it doesn't fall on the caregiver, it is more of a timing issue. Since we have signed on with Right at Home, whenever the caregiver is available to come everything is fine. When the people are not here it is when my grandparents need the most help. It would be helpful to have some kind of email or packet that says what service the attendant does or doesn't do. We are still on a learning curve.

The caregivers that Right at Home of Lower Manhattan provided my Mom who suffers from dementia were always kind, compassionate and knew how to anticipate my Mom's needs. My Mom thought the caregivers were wonderful. They were attentive to her and also assisted in taking care of her beloved beagle, Charley. The office staff regularly communicated with me giving me updates on my Mom's situation, making suggestions and asked for my feedback. The staff and caregivers went above and beyond when my Mon's medication ran low, they contacted the appropriate people and made sure she got what is needed. Since I live out of state and my mom lived alone in midtown Manhattan it was a significant source of comfort for me to know that she had a caring and compassion support system from Right at Home. Right at Home of Lower Manhattan also helped smooth the transition of my Mom to an assisted living facility community closer to me when that need became apparent.
