My dear wife was brought to the Mary and Ralph c. Wilson Inpatient Unit at 225 Como Park Blvd after 3 weeks of home hospice provided by Buffalo hospice and myself and my 2 sons who catered to my wifes every need 24/7. The team 4 home hospice staff was tremendous providing the care and comfort and follow ups that aided in a nice home and some memories for my wife and us. Thankfully God allowed her to go "home". It was then determined by the staff that we had done all we could and that she should go to the beautiful park like peaceful and serene Wilson facility. Where the grounds are impeccable and clean and surrounded by wildlife (deer and birds and turkeys) who visited my wife almost daily and she could see in the window. She always loved seeing Gods creatures near her and they added comfort in her times. But for all that beauty its the blessed Angels that roam and provide the care and compassion in the uniforms of nurses and physicians, aides social workers and chaplains that make this facility the incredibly wonderful place it is. During my wifes transition we received constant updates on her condition and the nurses were at our call every time. There was never a moment of delay-their attention to my wifes needs at this very special time enabled her to pass on to heaven in peace and comfort in the most wonderful of conditions in her room. The entire staff of this facility are blessed Angels who deserve the accolades attributed to heroes that they indeed ALL are. The names too many to list but I have made it a point to get back a few times and try and thank them for all their work and effort but most of all their compassion along the way of my wifes incredible journey. Myself and my family cannot say enough about this very special place and are forever grateful for their help for my wife of 37 years. They even cried throughout along with me many , many times. The staff that worked the Room number 2 corridor and all of them in this place are true Angels of compassion. I cannot say enough. God Bless them ALL!

My father spent time here while battling the final stages of cancer. The staff went above and beyond to make not only my father feel welcome and cared for, but also to take care of the family and friends that came to visit. The sense that the facility was treating the whole family and not just the patient was really special. Shortly after my father got well enough to return home, he opted to return to the facility. When we asked him why, he said it was because he felt safe there. I think that statement alone is telling of the quality of care.

The best thing about the entire experience was the people working there. Everyone from the staff, to volunteers, to administrators was very kind, courteous and professional. They made you feel very comfortable and that your family member would be in great hands. You also felt like the care being given was top of the line. They were very quick to respond to each and every need. The facility itself was nice, nothing out of the ordinary but clean and well maintained. The room we visited was always clean and it was rather large for an assisted living room. The single units were an added bonus. One other nice thing was that there was always some type of free food or beverage available. Whether it was coffee, pop or cookies, there was always something to grab. But all of this comes second to the staff and volunteers. They are what makes this place special.

The organization was very caring and spent a lot of time talking to the family about my mother's needs and how they could help. They offered many services and support, including spiritual support. My neutral rating is based on the fact that even though the above is true, it didn't work out as well as we had hoped. The aides that were sent to our home to help with my mother's daily care ended up quitting because my mother was "violent". She didn't like showering or doing personal care activities so she would hit the person trying to get it done. My opinion is that if you are offering help to a person with late stage dementia, you should expect and be prepared for bad behavior of this sort. But we ended up not getting any daily assistance from them, which is what we needed most. They were very helpful in making sure we had medications and in support after my mother passed.
