Although you may be able to find both types of care at a singular agency, in-home care and
home health care offer different services. Personal care assistants don’t provide medical care, but they do help with activities of daily living. Assistance can include grocery shopping, laundry, medication reminders, grooming and mobility, such as help with standing up or getting into a vehicle. Home health aides provide skilled medical care, depending on the individual’s needs. This includes physical therapy, post-surgery recovery, medication administration, blood withdrawals, occupational therapy and maintaining medical devices, such as feeding tubes or catheters.
