Although eligibility for the program is set at 60% of the state median income, priority assistance is given to vulnerable households, including seniors, people with disabilities, families with children and high energy users. |
Meals on Wheels | (860) 560-5848 | 555 Windsor St., Hartford, CT 06120 | Meals on Wheels is an initiative of the Community Renewal Team. If eligible, medically homebound seniors can have healthy lunches delivered directly to their homes by volunteers and staff. Hot lunches are delivered between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., and special diets can be accommodated in most cases. To qualify for Meals on Wheels deliveries, applicants must be at least 60 years old, unable to eat at a community meal site and assessed as being medically homebound. While a donation of $2.50 per meal is suggested, no one is denied. |

This program helps offset wintertime heating costs for lower income households in Connecticut by paying for a home’s primary heating source, such as oil, natural gas, electricity, propane or kerosene. To qualify, a household’s income must be at or below 60% of the state median. |
