We have had two horrific experiences with Vitas. First one, the hospice woman never showed up to our house when dad was transferred from hospital. Our dad died without any help. Second parent, hospice said they cannot help (get paid by Medicare). Mother needs to immediately leave hospital and we have to care for dying mother ourselves. (Three doctors over ruled her, thank God.). She said she gets coverage but Vitas will swing by ONLY if she starts to convulse. Yet, like a used car saleswoman, this Vitas worker tried to get us to sign contract. NO WAY. There are other options besides VITAS. So far, we have had terrible hospice experiences with Vitas. Run. Use someone else. Ask questions. They are not your only option.

During a very difficult time the nurses, aides, social worker and chaplain were very helpful. I wished we our doctor had referred us to Vitas earlier. We had supplies, medications and equipment delivered to the home. When we called during the night or on weekends they were able to help.

I wrote an earlier review of of this facility and it was written out of emotions What I didn’t mention is nurse is awesome sweet, understanding, caring and patient. My husband likes her and I trust her... I heard from his hospice doctor today he was very kind and assured me that my husband’s pain will be managed and I believe him Thank you Vitas I don’t give 5 stars on any review as no one is perfect because are all still learning

My sister was referred to Vitas at the end of August by Emory’s Palliative Care department, so we had high hopes. Three months later, we are looking for a new agency. While some of the nurses have been terrific, the medical director of my sister’s team has proved untrustworthy (doesn’t do what he says he will) and uncommunicative (doesn’t return calls or texts). The bottom line is that my sister is in more pain now than when she entered Vitas’ care. I wish we had had the five star experience some other clients describe, but we haven’t.

VITAS did an excellent job taking care of my mother the last week of her life. All of the nurses were professional, compassionate, competent, and patient. The staff seemed equally as concerned with the grieving process of the family as they did with the comfort of the patient. It was a terrible experience, but the staff at this facility made every effort to be as supportive as possible and to make an awful situation the best it could be.

Words just cannot express how deeply we appreciate all you have done for our mother. You all showed true compassion and kindness for her and her illness. Lisa, Brooke, and Holly were incredible and mom loved them. We want to say “Thank You” once again to all of you. May God’s blessings flow in each of your lives.

RUN!!!! As quickly as you can in the opposite direction!! Never ever in my life have I encountered such rude, uncaring people as I have in dealing with the ATL office, The DON is the most arrogant person I have ever dealt. with and the Administrator is a complete idiot. My poor grandmother could not het anyone to come when she was in a pain crisis, she died in pain without anyone from this company.

My father was recently sent home with Hospice. Vitas was suggested by the hospital. Communication was non-existent! If you called and spoke to someone the answer would be I will get back to you and you never heard from them again. It could have been our team (358) but have a feeling it is companywide because when we escalated we never received a call from them either. My dad was having issues, we called and spoke to night nurse (7:00 AM) who said that she would have our nurse call us at 9:00 AM. A little after 10:00 AM I called and was told our nurse was in a meeting left a message with the person we were told to call if we had any issues. I called back after 12:00 PM and left a message on the nurse’s voice mail (cell phone). At 3:45 PM I called and requested to speak to someone in person. I was transferred to our social worker who ordered a new oxygen hose and was sending a message to our nurse. She read back the message and made sure she had my name and number correct. She said that she would have the nurse give me a call though I never heard from her. The following day my sister-in-law called the person that we were to call if we had any issues as well and left a message. She then called requesting his manager and was told that the manager would return call within 15 minutes. Manager never did return call but after another hour and a half I received a call. He stated that he had just pulled his messages from the day before. It took over 28 hours to get a call back. Totally unacceptable!!! I don’t know how a company can survive if that is standard customer service. At that time, we moved to another company because as a family we did not feel that our dad was or would receive the required support that he needed. If you don’t care about how your loved ones are cared for then this is the company for you.

Our father recently died following a four-day stay at Vitas Hospice in Duluth. While it was a rough four days for our family, it was made so much easier by the incredibly caring and skilled nurses and staff. We cannot say enough good things about them -- all of them! And the atmosphere is bright, clean, serene and family-friendly, with a separate refrigerator to store food in and a chair in the room that folded out into a bed (not that comfy but very convenient for staying overnight). Highly recommend.

Vitas Healthcare is great. They are very good at taking care of my mother-in-law. They help her with her medications, roll her back and forth so she does not have bed sores, and give her general physical care. I like their attentiveness to details and genuine care.

We used VITAS Innovative Hospice Care for my mom. The staff was very polite, very caring and very up on what needed to be done. They knew their information and they were very helpful. They were great. My mom's last days were comfortable. I would recommend them to anybody.

We used the services of VITAS Innovative Hospice Care for my father for about two weeks. I found the agency by myself and they were awesome. I have nothing negative to say about them.

I had used thier services with my mother in law and was so impressed with the level of care that when the family needed them again there was no question about who we should call. You will not be disapointted in them they are wonderful from the Nursing staff, Home health aide staff, Case workers Chaplains and Volunteers are all equally compassionate adn care about the paient and the family alike.
