Home Instead was hired to help with a dear friend when she had physical and mental challenges due to Parkinson’s disease. The workers who came to the home were very competent, caring, professional and kind. They also accompanied her to many appointments when her significant other would not or could not take her. The home office was also great and supportive. There were circumstances that came up that needed attention, and they were quick to notify me and support me through some very tough times. They were extremely supportive as well when we ended up in a Hospice situation. If you are needing help caring for a loved one at home, I highly recommend their services. They went above and beyond for my loved one and for those involved in her care.

I have been a client for 3 years. My needs have changed and Home Instead is always able to provide competent, skilled caregivers to meet those needs. They help me care for my 2 cats and bird. They are also flexible and able to accommodate doctors appointments, family events, etc.

This service is helpful not only for clients at home, but also for extra services needed for those in assisted living -- those who are not quite ready for memory care, but still need extra help. This service has helped my mom stay in the community she loves, near friends and activities, even though I am 3 hours away. The agency is there every day to help her get up, showered and dressed, as well as getting her to medical appointments.

It was not working out with Home Instead Senior Care because my husband doesn’t really need them. It’s not working with the caregiver, although it was nice to have her as a companion and many things. It’s 2 days a week. I really prefer one day a week, but they had to have two days a week, so that’s not really working out too well with me. The staff didn’t match someone up. Like I told her that my husband can walk and do things, and then they gave me someone who really takes care of him and walks with him and all that. That’s one of the things I didn’t like too much. Also the caregiver lives far too, a little away from here. My husband doesn’t need that mobility help. He is still also alert enough to take his medications on time. What I wanted them to do is mainly be here for him while I was gone.

I'm kind of neutral with Home Instead Senior Care - Santa Clarita. We've had two caretakers who were very good, but they replaced them; I don't know why. I wasn't as happy with the new one. She was not very comfortable dealing with someone with Alzheimer's. She would come in and fall asleep on the couch. I was not happy with that. I think they need to be more assertive in monitoring what the healthcare workers are doing and maybe create a plan for specific patients because I know when I met with the area director, she said they would take my husband to the center. It all sounded great, but it didn't really happen, and it was more like sitting in front of the TV all day.

Home Instead Senior Care was a very professional organization. They were a very hands-on company. They really took good care of their caregivers and they provided continuing education for them. They made sure that their caregivers knew what they were doing in the situation. The caregivers were really committed to my mom in providing excellent care.

The response from Home Instead was really good. But we only had the caregiver for a couple of days, because dad became too aggressive towards her. He has Alzheimer's. He's confused. But as far as I know the caregiver was okay and I think my mom was comfortable enough. They very nice, and they still call mom just to see how things are going.
