This is a great company! Full of caring nurses, hospice aids, and chaplains. They all seem to really take care of their patients like family members.

I have worked here for 8 years and I have had family members use this hospice. All the staff are like family and provide compassionate care!

I wish I had read these reviews prior to using New Beacon Hospice. My family member died at home surrounded by family and friends as promised, BUT we were making every attempt to make him comfortable and the nurse was at home in bed, knew he was dying, new his condition was urgent, as a video was sent to her as our cry for help, her response was "bless his heart". He smothered to death, surrounded by family and friends New Beacon nurse{not his nurse} but one we had never met was there the next day shortly after he smothered to death to count remaining narcotics, oh and to gather diapers and pads to carry home for her dog to use. Lord forgive us for not doing more research

My mother was a client of this hospice several years ago. We were fairly happy with them until the end of my mother's life. All three of us daughters lived out of town. I came just when we had decided to use morphine to help my mother with pain. I won't go into all the details but the short version was I had no concrete guidance on how much morphine to give my mother--there was a huge "range" listed on the prescription. My mother over days was extremely agitated and would open her eyes and ask "am I dead?" I couldn't get anyone to really guide me. One night when it was at the worst they decided to add ativan (which should have been prescribed from the beginning of the morphine) and I had to go out in the middle of the night to find the all-night pharmacy to fill the prescription. This was the most horrible experience of my life, which I will never get over. One of the things they told me was they were too busy with other patients to come out more often to help me. I have tried to forgive them but as you can see, obviously I have not succeeded.

New Beacon Hospice was the providor for my mother for many years as she declined very gradually from lung cancer. Grief related questions as to how I was coping came twice by telephone during over 5+ years of service and once via letter after her death. There was, in my opinion, an incredible lack of professionalism. My mother, who was quite a humorist and interesting woman, often said she felt more like she was there for them than they were for her. They even told her she was good for their morale. Her long stay in hospice was unique so there may have been a different expereince in more traditional durations of care situations. In the end, at her side, there was a nurse who showed up and had only seen my mom a few times but was very professional, very spiritual very consoling. She was the most professional and true hospice nurse I had ever met and I regretted she had not been the prototype of care workers I met. After many years of service, I was overall quite unimpressed and felt hurt from the whole experience as did my other family members.

New Beacon was called in to care for my love one. They promished to take care of them & to be with me when he died. I intertview them and read their contract. But when it came to taking care of him they were no where to be found. I called and called only to have them tell me "we have others to care for too" They left no orders for drugs and he was in very bad pain for days. When the nurse did come she was on her phone half the time of the vist. She was very mean to him. I would never want any one to use New Beacon.
