The facility is beautiful and well maintained. More importantly, the staff is fantastic, extremely friendly, and responsive to your needs. There are so many great activities that engage and entertain - something for every interest and ability. It is fun to meet the various residents, both in the dining room and in groups, and learn about their interesting lives. I couldn't recommend this home any higher!!

Laurelwood at The Pinehills is a new facility, but the layout and the size of the one-bedroom are much too small, so we didn't pursue that. We walked away from them because the rooms are super teeny, we're talking maybe 500 square feet, and the bathrooms aren't attached in the bedroom. So she would have to walk out of her room in assisted living into the living room and into the bathroom, and I don't want that. They wake up a lot in the middle of the night and that's just too far. I want the bathroom in close proximity to the bedroom. That was the deal breaker right there, plus the rooms were too small. I don't even know how you could put a couch in there. The facilities that they offer are very comparable to the other places we've looked at, so there's nothing special about them.

My tour at Laurelwood at The Pinehills was wonderful. The community was beautiful. It has everything that you could want, but it was very expensive. If you can afford it, it's a great place. Some of their activities are art classes, a book club, they go on excursions, and other pretty standard things. They have a fitness area and a beauty salon. It's a beautiful place and it's clean. It was very quiet and didn't have the homey feel that my dad's current community has, but it was very lovely, more like a hotel than a home.

If you asked why we chose Laurelwood at the Pine Hills, I think this adequately describes the process. We isolated our needs: * We needed to be near our medical support system—BID-Plymouth. * We needed an independent situation that would transition into assisted living. * We needed a memory care unit on the premises. * We needed to find a place that would be cheerful, bright and not depressing on the assumption that for us the next few years might be the most important as my spouse will be able to participate. * We needed to be in a “rural” environment where we could feel a community outside the facility and enjoy the out-of-doors. * We needed to be no farther from our kids. * We needed to be near the very large and caring community of church and friends. * And finally, we needed a facility where our values were shared— essentially things should be done right, people must be treated with caring and respect, programs should be creative and stimulating, options should be numerous, etc. We visited (true, nearly 2 to 3 years ago) everything in a radius of 50 miles that met the majority of our needs. We found all facilities visited (including but not limited to) Linden Ponds, Wingate and the Villages at Duxbury (where most folks go from our area) to have wonderfully dedicated staff and much to offer. However, none filled all our needs but Laurelwood. We came to the conclusion to rent at Laurelwood, and not to buy, as offered at other facilities. It was the better choice for us. I became involved with Laurelwood a few years before their construction. It quickly became obvious to me, that this was the place for us. They made us feel wanted. They kept in touch. They were flexible in helping to meet our needs. They were always professional. They have become friends! Bottom line, I could not visualize us any other place. This business of getting old is difficult. Getting old with heath issues is even more daunting. I would be crazy not to admit that I am scared, but I feel safe/secure in our decision.

My parents moved into Laurelwood at The Pinehills in August and the transformation has been amazing. They have more energy and are happier than I have seen them in years. The environment is fantastic. Great activities, great food and great support.

I helped a client downsize and move into Laurelwood. She was looking for a community where there was great socialization and opportunities to pursue her painting and get involved with the social activities while still having her independence and a place to feel like she really belonged. From the first meeting at Laurelwood, the staff were very warm, caring and compassionate, making my client feel at home and as if she had been there her whole life. I've gone to visit my client from time to time and she is always so happy and pleased with all that is offered at Laurelwood and how the staff treat her! She feels like the Queen Bee! I've also noticed how everyone knows her! Laurelwood is an excellent choice for anyone looking into Assisted Livings as they make each resident feel welcomed, loved and entertained, yet maintaining their independence.

My mother moved into Laurelwood in July 2015. I can not give this independent/assisted living facility a better rating. The staff, the facility, the cleanliness, the food, the activities, and the friendliness of the residents could not have been a better experience for my mother. Of course she was nervous going there, having lived in her own home for 60 years. But, after being there for only one day, you could hear the happiness in her voice. She would leave her room in the morning for breakfast and not return for any length of time until after supper because of all the activities that she joined. She went there as an independent resident, but because of a fall, needed assistance for a few weeks and the staff was always ready to help her. It is a wonderful place.

My mother is in Laurelwood at The Pinehills. It's new and modern, and it has a full kitchen in their assisted living apartments. They do a lot of activities. They have arts, computer classes, cards, and music, and they take the people to outdoor activities like fishing trips, art fairs, and the farmers market -- they take them everywhere. They also take them to doctor's appointments two days a week for those who don't have family nearby. I'm very happy with the staff.
Provider Response
Thank you for such a wonderful review! We're proud to offer a beautiful place to call home and wonderful staff members to take our residents on fun trips and help with any activity they want to do.
