Park Senior Villas - Houghton had kind of a villa-looking thing and then you go inside the building and they had individual rooms. They had double rooms if you wanted a roommate. They had some activities. I didn't see as much going on or see the people running around as I did at the other place, but it was very nicely kept up. The people were nice. A few days later, I came back, I even told them that I had decided on the other place. They still said, "Come and get that desk." They got the desk out and told me where is the closest was to get it. They're very nice there. The place was clean. I checked out both assisted living, plus memory care. Based on how clean they were and how nice I thought it was, it's a five. I liked the layout. I thought it was convenient. They have a little closed-in patio area. It's all on one level. One gentleman was sitting out there when we were there. When I went back and picked up the desk, I saw more people. It could have been the time of day and maybe people were in activities when I was there visiting. I saw their little cafeteria area for that building and mom can have her cat there. The staff I saw was very nice and very obliging because when I came and got the desk, one girl helped me bring it out to my car. She was very polite and very nice.

What drew us to Park Senior Villas was the layout of the property. It is a bunch of small houses with 10 rooms, and we felt that it would be easier for a person to become adjusted and be able to find their own room. From the get go, we had nothing but problems there. We really didn't want to have to move our parent because we were worried it would cause trauma. We really tried to work with management to improve the conditions. Ultimately, we had to relocate my father. I could go into detail about all of the neglect I witnessed, but it really is too much to list. If you are considering this place, I recommend that you show up unannounced. Also, ask to see the ACTUAL villa your loved one would be placed in - not the model attached to the office - on the spot with no appointment.

Park Senior Villas Houghton has been a wonderful find for my 91 year old mom. She's been here for 10 months and has settled into her nice-sized room comfortably, surrounded by a few of her own familiar furnishings. She has become acquainted with other residents in the house and enjoys their company over meals at the dining table. The desert setting and views are lovely. Plenty of activities available for those wanting to participate. Administration is very helpful and always available. Caregivers are knowledgeable, kind and observant, and always have a smile. There's a happy atmosphere to the house--mom loves to hear the occasional 'laughter of these young people'. I live close to the facility so am able to see mom frequently, take her things, drive her to appointments and such, so I am there enough to observe the consistency of care. And mom is very outspoken and observant, and has had very little to complain of! She really appreciates the assistive care she is receiving and is very fond of her caregivers. I highly recommend Park Senior Villas as a place to consider for placement of a loved one. Mary Keller

We visited Park Senior Villas - Houghton. It's individual villas. There are ten patients per villa, and two nurses that are on duty during the day. So that's one nurse for four or five residents. The price was right, too. For the staff, there's only one guy I know, it's Joe. He's pretty good and is excellent. The layout was just perfect. In the center of the building is your kitchen dining area. Your TV room and around it on the outside are the rooms. There are ten rooms that go around the sides to the back to the other side. Everything is focused on the center, like your showers, resting area, and things of that nature. There was a library, television room, a nice shower area, a meditation room, and a laundry room. It was pretty nice. We did not see any people because they took us to a different room that was empty.

We went to Park Senior Villas Houghton, and we have decided that's where my wife will stay. It is closer to our children, and that is where she wanted to be. I was impressed with all the staff, too. They have a large living room, a nice kitchen, a dining room, and bedrooms. They have a library, a salon, and a gym -- you name it, they got it. The meals are also included. The building is fairly new, and it has nice surrounding areas.
