My mother lived at Wingate Residences at Melbourne Place for the past 5 years until her death last month. Her/our experience with this facility was outstanding in every aspect: the physical facility, staff, managment, and food. The physical facility is beautiful -- looks like a well-kept Marriott Hotel -- and is kept spotlessly clean and repaired. The best thing about Melbourne, though, is the people: the staff are kind, caring and loving to a fault, and the management models that as well. My mother, bless her, was not always the happiest person, and towards the end of her life she could be very difficult. I never saw or heard any of the staff be other than patient and understanding in return, no matter how difficult she could be. Moreover, I was not able to be there when my mother died, but two (very young CNA's) stayed with her throughout a 2 1/2 hour ordeal, and held her in their arms to the end. I'm not even sure I could have done what they did. I would recommend this facility to anyone looking for a warm, caring place for an elderly relative or loved one.

Wingate Residences at Melbourne Place was very expensive, but also very nice with many services available. The room was small for the price, but the activities and the social environment seemed very good. The staff during the tour was wonderful. We saw independent living as well as assisted living. The price is a bit prohibitive, but otherwise, it seemed like a nice facility.

The assisted living at Wingate Residences at Melbourne Place was lovely, I'd move in there in a minute. They just completely redid it so the facilities are absolutely beautiful. The food did look delicious, we came at lunch and people were eating, and it smelled and it looked really good. The director there I wasn't as impressed with as the one at the other place I toured. My mother at this point couldn't take advantage of a lot of the amenities there, so it would be a difficult fit for her at this point. Everything was completely new and they have excellent options as far as deck dining, outdoor facilities, and inside, there was a beautiful library, and it was nice.

Based on the tour and the information we got, we liked the Wingate Residences at Melbourne Place. I just wasn't sure if they could handle my dad. At that point, we didn't know his full condition; we didn't know if it was a suitable placement or not. We might consider it again. It was somewhere we were interested in. We toured their memory care. The person who assisted us was helpful and gave a lot of information. She showed us different rooms, too. The setup was nice. It was clean and new. The people looked happy when we were there, and the staff looked engaged and caring. I remember seeing a movie theater and a separate kitchen area. I think they were in the middle of a renovation during our visit.

I liked Wingate Residences at Melbourne Place very much. They showed me the assisted living and memory care section and I thought it was very clean, modern, and had a home-like feel to it. The woman was knowledgeable and did well during the tour. Their apartments were very nice too. It's a very welcoming place. They had exercise classes going on when I was there. They were doing renovations so that was very nice.

Our dad decided to come here to Melbourne 17 years ago. He chose an apartment overlooking Mt. Greylock. He is as happy today as he was on day 1!

Wingate Residences at Melbourne Place was a very nice facility. They had very knowledgeable people. They had different bunch of exercise activities going on the day I visited. They had shuttle service. It was a very nice place. The room was a little bigger than the other place I visited. They had shuttle service that did the tour. It seemed like they had a good participation with everything.

Mom stayed at Wingate for respite care. It was nice, homey, and had activities for her to participate in. The food was good, and she made new friends. I was impressed by the staff. The dining area was large and overlooked the mountains.

I'm actually familiar with this community because I have looked at their memory care side for my father-in-law a couple of years ago. They're very lovely people. The visit was good because it was very informative, and it was a very nice facility. I think they're very pleasant. The rooms themselves were a little on a small size, but their common rooms were very large and pleasant. I think that encourages the residents to come out and interact. However, I saw no activities or program which was a little disappointing. They did have a calendar of activities, and it looked they would be nice and interesting, but at that time I saw none in progress.

We appreciate that you made the time to share such nice impressions about our community and staff -- we are proud of both. Regarding our activities, we plan for a variety of activities throughout the day and evening though not all day long. As with most people, residents also enjoy having time of their own to rest, socialize, or do as they please. Most of our scheduled activities have good attendance, so we think we're hitting the mark with what we plan, and, we're always open to suggestions. We hope next time you can visit during an activity!

They had a nice dining area. The rooms looked nice and freshly painted. We had observed plenty of activities for the residents when we were there. It was well lit. The people seemed to enjoy it.
Provider Response
We always appreciate it when someone takes the time to share their experience when they visit, so thank you. And, we think you're right, people do enjoy it here!

Aunt and uncle have been here for the past five years, and we assisted them when they moved in. We are very pleased with the cleanliness, the overall appearance of the building, the rooms, and all the things that they had offer. The experience has been very positive. Fortunately, she has not needed much assistance; her husband did, and we actually had to bring in outside care for 24hours a day for probably six months, and then he passed away. There’s lot of activities that she is now taking advantage of that she didn’t do before because she was always trying to tend to him. She is 96. What she likes to complain about is the food as she is used to very fine dining. We have actually been there a few times, and it has been very good. They are very receptive to all of her concerns, and they tried to address them.

Thank you for the nice compliments and taking the time to share them. It's great feedback that your aunt enjoys our activities. Our area is so rich in the arts and culture, it adds to the caliber of activities we can offer. And, you're invited to share a meal with us whenever you can!

For the past 3 years, my 88 year old aunt Shirley has received warm, patient, tender care. I trust all of the staff with her care as I live 2 hours away. Fabulous facility!

I am so grateful for the service of being transported to medical appointments and even trips to my bank. I even want to compliment the drivers Coleen, Richard, and Stanley.

I am very happy with the way they cooperated with me and the care that my mom is given. I am the one who sees my mom every day and they are very good. The nurses are very efficient and excellent. The CNA's and aides are doing a good job and very helpful. I think they are doing the best they can. Mom is 97 and they are cooperative with her. Though she had a fall again the other day because she fails to ask for help, she's getting better. They have really been wonderful and I have very good reports about them. I feel very fortunate right now.

The staff is wonderful. They go one extra mile to support the residents. They are never to busy to give a smile or hug. Everyone including the dinning room staff show respect and warmth to the residents.

It was only two blocks away from me. It was really nice, clean and quiet. The staff seemed to be doing a pretty good job because the residents seemed to be happy. However, it was expensive.

I had no problems when I went there. The facility is fine and everybody seemed happy. Each room has its own heating and air conditioning system. I haven’t eaten there, but their dining room seemed very nice. The facility overall seemed pleasant and everything seemed accessible.

We visited this community. The place was gorgeous and everybody seemed to be very nice. It's a gorgeous building. The surrounding is just so friendly and so homey. They had a big country kitchen with tables all around. There's a big wooden area outside. They had a big bird in a cage which the people enjoyed every much. They have a gorgeous library and they do puzzles. They had a beautiful dining room and they get to choose from a menu. I was very excited about going there, but they tell me one thing and then they say something different after. They told me that the price is state regulated and then they also told me that it’s not state regulated.
Provider Response
Thanks for the positive comments; we appreciate them. On the “state-regulated” pricing question, we apologize for the confusion. To be clear, we offer state-subsidized pricing for residents who meet the state requirements for this benefit. We encourage individuals to apply for this benefit, but the state determines who is eligible.
