I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I can’t say enough good things about Harbour Village! It was an excellent move for my 91 year old mom. She is well cared for and happy. The food is homemade daily and delicious with choices at every meal. The rooms are beautifully laid out to accommodate those in wheelchairs or walkers. Weekly housekeeping and CNA services to and from the dining room, or any of the daily activities that your loved one, would like to join in are very accommodating. A great selection of daily activities that your loved one can join in on. On site salon services are a bonus. The entire staff is very attentive, and should an issue arise, can be easily taken care of in a very short period of time. They truly do care about your loved one. The facility is beautiful inside and out. And the residents genuinely seem happy. I know my mom is and that’s very important to me! Tours are free, and any and all questions are answered. I highly recommend Harbour Village!

Provider Response

Gail, we're happy you had a positive experience with our team! Thanks again for the recommendation, and have an amazing day!

Harbour Village was nice. It was just more expensive. The location was good. They have a courtyard and a salon. The staff members were nice. The only downside was the price. The facilities were nice because they separated the memory care from the regular assisted living. They had everything you needed. It's near restaurants, doctor's offices, and the mall. The place was also clean.

Provider Response

Hello Steve, we appreciate you taking the time to leave us this feedback. If you're ever in need of more help, please let us know!

My father is 99 and has been paying for Assisted Living Care for the past 2 years. While his needs have increased, the costs have skyrocketed. Laundry continues to be problem, now his pants and towels are missing. They put pajama pants on him. He has bed sores and penis sores. If your loved one needs care, find another place. They don’t keep him clean and dry. Also we visit several times a week and are very vocal. Still nothing is done. It’s been 2 years of continuous frustration.

Provider Response

Thank you for sharing your concerns with us. We understand the importance of your father's care and take feedback seriously. To address your specific issues and ensure they are properly resolved, please reach out to Debra Barth, Executive Director. We are committed to providing the highest quality of care and would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this matter further.

I toured Harbour Village for my parents. The people were very friendly. Everything looked clean. The staff was awesome. They were very helpful and explained everything very well to me. The problem that I had with it is that, for what they're charging, they had no dishwasher, no microwave, and no washer-dryer in the apartment. The building seemed like an older facility; it's not brand new. The air conditioner there is what gives us a 'no' on it because it's very loud and it's a wall unit. However, I felt like the atmosphere was beautiful. When you go into the atrium and the desk, it looks very nice.

Provider Response

We really appreciate your feedback! We understand your concern and we do hope we can be of assistance in the future. Take care!

If your loved one doesn't have any serious medical needs, this may be an ok place for he or she. You have to have eyes on all of the medical care and even then, things get overlooked - quite astonishingly. No one is running to answer a call light. Also, be careful about what you put on for financials on the application. It seems that people are charged based on their assets - more money = higher monthly fee (for assisted living or memory care) - at least that is what some of the staff told me. They couldn't believe what I was paying monthly for my father to reside there. Caregivers are not paid well for what they are expected to do and it shows in some in attitude and lack of empathy or compassion.

Provider Response

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We take all comments seriously and strive to provide the best possible care for our residents. While we regret any concerns you may have experienced during your loved one's stay, we want to ensure that their well-being remains our top priority. We encourage you to reach out to Debra Barth, our Executive Director, to discuss any specific issues you encountered. Your insights are invaluable as we continuously work to improve our services.

The tour we had at Harbour Village went fine. The only drawback that pushed us not to go there was that 95% of the people in memory care were in wheelchairs, and most of them looked like they were falling out of their chairs. The person we're looking to place is completely mobile and not in a chair or doesn't use a walker, so she wouldn't be comfortable there with everyone being in chairs. The staff was very nice and helpful, and we liked the care-to-patient ratio and everything about it. It was just the atmosphere of everyone being in chairs that threw us off there. Otherwise, it would be a great facility. The place was very nice, clean, and smelled pleasant. They offered us a cookie, and it was exceptional.

Provider Response

Renee, we welcome to discuss any concern to ensure a five-star experience in the future.

We toured Harbour Village. We spoke with Latoya, and Latoya was very, very friendly. She showed us everything and she introduced us to the nurse and the director who have been there for many years now. She said she has been there for four years now. She told us about the ratio of the nursing staff to the patients, and that was good. However, everything was so locked up. We heard people singing. We saw the ratio of care was better than in any of the other places. They were entertaining and encouraging, and they seemed to really know the residents and care about them, probably because they'd worked there for many years. They have assisted living, assisted living with more help, and independent living. It's a big place. The rooms were very nice, even in the memory care. They were small but they were very nice and very clean. There were some rooms where they shared a bathroom so that one was different than all the others in that way. The rooms were separate, they just shared a bathroom.

Provider Response

Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how we did. We hope you have a great day!

My mom is moving into Harbour Village. It is very up to date, beautiful, and clean. The apartment is nice, but a little dated. They have a wonderful staff that is helpful and friendly. They are amazing and very accommodating. The dining area was beautiful. They had linens on the table for the evening meal. Everything was very clean. We got a chance to taste the food. They gave us a meal, and the meal was excellent. My mom is not big on activities, but I know they have cards and bingo. They have a whole calendar of events. We even talked to some of the residents there. Every resident we talked to was like, "This is a great place. We love it. We've been here for a while, and everything is great. The staff is wonderful." We got a lot of positive remarks from people that live there, which I thought was a big deal.

My dad is moving into Harbour Village. What we liked about them is that they have a lot of activities. They have a lot of outings that they go to, and the transportation is always free. They only have to pay for a ticket to go to a movie or a play. Twenty-two meals a month are included, and that's not counting breakfast. Breakfast is always included. By far, they are the best place we looked at. Housekeeping is included. Activities can range from indoor community things like games, nightly Jeopardy, nightly Wheel of Fortune games, and movies. They also have at least two lunch outings per month. They have shopping outings, they go to movies, plays, museums, and they go to Lake Geneva every summer for a boat ride. I think my dad will enjoy those things. The only person we've had a lot of contact with would be the administrative staff. The general director came and spoke with us. We've tried the food and we have spoken with the salespeople a lot. Those people have all been very kind. I think the apartments are very nice. Almost all of them are two bedrooms.

Harbour Village was fantastic. The people who took me around their memory care were great. The only thing I found was that it was fairly expensive, but it was all very beautiful. It was like a high-end hotel and everybody was nice. It was very clean. They seemed active. The people have been gracious, very caring, and very willing to listen.

Harbour Village was wonderful. It was the atmosphere that would best fit my dad. Cleanliness was great. They have a gym, rehab, daily activities, and music/entertainment. They go on outings to shopping malls and to different locations, too. My dad's going to be in a one-bedroom and it is very spacious. The bathroom is accommodating for his needs, as well as the bedroom, with enough space to get in.

Harbour Village was very nice but more expensive. It was a little farther south than we wanted to be. I liked everything I saw. The facility looked well kept up and clean. We completed a tour of Harbour Village assisted living. There seemed to be activities going on. The employees were also visible all over talking to the residents or doing their jobs from laundry, to the kitchen, to medications. Employees were very visible and interacted with residents. Chris, our guide, presented us with homemade cookies. The facility presented itself as very clean. I would have no concern about the physical appearance of it. The room was spacious enough for what a person would need. The layout was just kind of weird, but it would do. It was nice having a refrigerator and a microwave already there. For handicaps, the bars were available in the bathrooms for getting up and down. The walk-in shower and the walk-in closet were nice. It was nice, overall.

My mother-in-law will be moving into Harbour Village. We worked with the gentlemen, and he was so responsive about every question we had. He just seemed very open. He gave us options on rooms. He explained everything about the place. The food seems pretty good. The residents were moving about and happy. It was just a nice place. The facility was very clean. It's just like they had a lot to offer. They have activities. We did have our mother-in-law tour it as well, and she liked the place. We got superb cookies. The dining room was very large, very clean, open, and organized. They have outside dining if you want to go outside and sit on patios. They've got a beauty salon, barbershop, and exercise room. They do daily activities. They have trips that they could go to stores or restaurants.

Provider Response

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom was in Harbour Village. It's too big for senior care, and then I didn't like the atmosphere of how you went from independent, to assisted, and then to memory care. It's like the overall culture, is that it's a downgrade if you go to assisted living, and my mom was very much afraid of moving to assisted living there. So then we moved her out of the facility, because she would have been very depressed, because they don't do activities between all three groups. My mom loved it in the independent living. She liked the activities and the activities director was awesome; he was wonderful. But when they need more care, then it becomes a little bit more difficult to live there. The staff members are overworked, and there's not enough of them. I always saw that people were always waiting to get themselves carted in their wheelchairs. This other place is much nicer, because the patient care ratio is a lot better since it's smaller facility than at Harbour Village.

Provider Response

We are glad to hear your mother loved our independent living option! Our team works hard to make our community an enjoyable atmosphere for all residents, and we take all feedback seriously. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss your feedback in more detail. Please don't hesitate to reach out to Debra Barth, Executive Director, at your convenience.

I saw Harbour Village in Greendale and it was nice and very pleasant. I met a gentleman there, he called me, and I've talked to him two or three times already. I had to tell them that I finally decided that they are just not what I'm looking for at this point, and if the good Lord blessed me, maybe I won't ever. I looked at independent living because that's what I was looking for. I didn't need assistance. What I liked about it is that they were out in the country a little bit, or on the edge of the city. Harbour Village just looked so nice, and it was peaceful and quiet. It was far enough away that as I walked around the outside, I didn't hear roaring traffic. I didn't hear anything else. I also liked the level of safety. The staff was very nice. They left me with homemade chocolate chip cookies, which was very nice. They were very large, very chewy, and very tasty. What I liked was that they also had nuts on it, and I like walnuts chopped up in mine, or pecans. It was just very pleasant. I'm thinking that if this is the way they're cooking, everything else has got to be good too.

Provider Response

Thank you for your feedback, Phil. We are happy to hear you enjoyed our community and would love the opportunity to serve you in the future, should you decide it's the right fit for you!

We made a list of pros and cons of Harbour Village. I think we have one con and a lot of pros. Everything about it was very nice, the layout of the apartment, it had more cupboards in the kitchen, and it had more closets, two closets in each bedroom. It had a little bar that went between the kitchen and dining room. The layout of the apartment was nice. The only thing we didn't like, it wasn't a big deal, but there was no deck or patio door off the apartment. They have two decks on each floor, so that was our only con, otherwise the place was awesome. It was independent and assisted. It would be the same apartment until you needed more care, then you would move across the way in the same building; you would move to a different area. Even the tenants, everybody said hi, and they were very friendly to the people that lived there. I mean, we were just very impressed with Harbor Village. They had two dining rooms, one real fancy, one a little bit more casual, and you could eat at either one, there were no assigned seats, and it was just a nice place. They made us homemade cookies, and they were the best cookies I ever had in my life. There's two patios on each floor, like a seating area outside. The staff, the guy that showed us around, was very professional and thorough. You can park anywhere in the lot. If you didn't take a parking space underground, you could park in the lot anywhere.

We went to Harbor Village. They seemed to have a pretty good handle on all the things that my dad would need, and were pretty sensitive to his mobility issues. The range of services seemed to be greater than in other places. The people that we met were fine, and they offered a meal, the food was fine.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom has been in the Harbour Village for two months now. The place is not too big. She gets two or three choices for every meal, and she's always telling everybody how good the food is. If we have any concerns, they address the concerns in a timely fashion, so overall we're satisfied with her care currently, and all of the staff are very friendly. They have a nice, big dining room and a main living area where the residents can come and watch TV. They're very religious about their activities every day, and they do everything from exercise to mind games. Anybody who is willing to come is able to attend, whether you're stuck in a wheelchair or you're able to go on your own -- they're really good about that. If I have a doctor's appointment with her, they always have her ready to go. She didn't want to move out of her house, so it's good that she's able to have her own furniture, which was important to us. She has a little studio apartment with a kitchenette, a mini refrigerator, a nice living room, and a bedroom right off of there. It's open. There's no wall between the bedroom and the living room, and my mom just loves it because everything's right there. It's easy for her to get around, and there's still room for a kitchen table and for us when we come and visit. It doesn't feel like she's in a nursing home, and she's happy there.

Provider Response

Deb, thank you for your kind review; we are happy to pass along your comments to the team here at Harbour Village! Have a great day.

Harbour Village is wonderful, but it is not for me. The people who assisted me were very helpful and very informative. I talked to the chef. He basically said that because I have severe allergies to seasonings and am gluten-free, it would be difficult for him to handle. They showed me all the amenities, and they were very nice. They showed me the exercise room, the units, and several different studio styles. The set-up of the room was very nice. It is a room with a kitchen, a bedroom, and a living room. They have bingo. They go for walks, and they have the usual activities. The place is very nice, but it is not for me.

Harbour Village was a large complex, and my mother felt she would be more comfortable in a smaller-sized community. For her, it was overwhelming, but the facility was attractive and modern. The director was extremely accommodating. It had a very nice, very welcoming atmosphere. They had a little bistro area off the main entry. It looked like the residents were very happy and comfortable. I told the director that I would not hesitate to promote them to anybody who is looking for a senior facility.

Harbour Village was really a nice facility, but I'm just not ready for it. From what I understand and from what I saw, it's a wonderful place. I saw the dining area had white linen tablecloths. I looked at a roomy two-bedroom apartment, but the only thing I didn't like about the apartments was they didn’t have washers and dryers in each one. It didn't have a dishwasher, but I can wash dishes if I have to. From the people that I saw and talked to, it seemed like a very nice place.

We went to Harbour Village, and they were lovely. The woman that gave the tour was extraordinary, and that’s an extraordinary place to go. It’s a fabulous memory care unit. I was very impressed. We were very impressed with the rooms; it was better than expected and laid out very safely. It’s very much setup like an old town hall, a little picture box outside each room to personalize each patient. The kitchen is setup like a home kitchen; it’s just very welcoming and very homey. It is a lovely place.

I was extremely impressed with Harbour Village. It's definitely my first choice. It was a little older but it was very clean. I thought the individual apartment was much nicer. Definitely, a place where I felt that my mom would be happy once she made the transition. It did have a stove and oven and it had a full fridge. The people who lived there seemed like they were very excited to show what they had at the facility and I thought that was wonderful. It seemed very much that they were very happy.
