- Better Business Bureau Rating: Is the company accredited by the BBB? If so, what is its rating?
- Experience: For how many years has the company been in the medical alert industry?
- Transparency: Is the company forthcoming about the cost per month, extra fees, device capability, and consumer reviews? Is it easy to find the information you need on the company’s website?
- Free Trial: Does the company offer a free trial period so seniors can try out its medical alert device? If so, how long is the trial?
Extra Features and Add-On Devices
This category evaluated how many additional features and products a medical alert company offers beyond standard emergency monitoring. - Startup Fees: Are customers required to purchase their device for a one-time fee or pay a “device” or “equipment” fee for leased systems? Are customers required to pay an “activation” or “self-installation” fee to get the device to work?
