You may qualify for one of Wyoming’s Home and Community-Based Services waivers if you’re eligible for Medicaid and have certain disabilities. The three waivers covering home health care in Wyoming are:
- Community Choices Waiver
- Supports Waiver
- Comprehensive Waiver
Each waiver is designed to serve a specific population group, so you may need to meet additional eligibility criteria to qualify for home health care financial assistance. For example, eligibility may depend on your age or care needs.
Medicaid Eligibility
You must meet the Wyoming Medicaid program’s eligibility criteria before enrolling in an HCBS waiver. To qualify, you must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident living in Wyoming with a low or very low household income. Income thresholds depend on the number of people in your household— for example, the maximum yearly income for a single-person household is $18,075.
Generally, people with disabilities requiring home health care will qualify for Medicaid if they meet the residency and financial criteria. You could also be eligible if you’re 65 or older, pregnant, responsible for a child younger than 19 or have a disabled relative living in your household.
HCBS Waiver Eligibility
The Supports Waiver and Comprehensive Waiver serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities of any age. You could also qualify if you have an acquired brain injury. Eligible applicants must satisfy clinical criteria to receive funded services through either of these waivers.
Meanwhile, the Community Choices Waiver is for adults 65 and older. You may also be eligible if you are 19 or older and have a disability that meets the Social Security Administration disability qualification threshold.
