The median cost of home health care in Vermont is $30 per hour. Although it provides different services, home care shares this same hourly average in the Green Mountain State. Both types of in-home care are designed to support seniors who wish to age in place in the comfort and privacy of their own home.
The exact cost of home health care depends on varying factors, such as the services required, whether care is needed during irregular hours and where the senior lives.

How Is Home Health Care Different from Home Care?
While both types of senior care help older adults to remain at home as they age, each type of in-home care provides different services. The main difference is that home health care includes medical or therapeutic services and home care doesn’t. Home care includes non-clinical support, such as assistance with everyday tasks and help with instrumental activities of living. Examples include assistance with preparing meals, paying bills, doing laundry and performing personal care tasks. It may also include companionship hours to help alleviate social isolation and boredom.
In contrast, home health care services may include:
- Physical, speech and occupational therapy
- Monitoring of long-term health conditions
- Temporary skilled nursing
- Medication management
- Guidance with diet and nutrition
- Help with personal care
