MDHearingAid’s Hearing Aid Review
Best for Affordable Hearing Aids
MDHearingAid is a Midwestern company that assembles its products in Southfield, Michigan. With over a decade of experience and more than 500,000 hearing aids sold, MDHearingAid has become one of the most well-known and affordable hearwear brands in the country.
This brand is affordable on almost any budget, with three different models. These capable, digital hearing aids come at industry-beating prices and can be considered economy models.
Consumers should note that, while very affordable, MDHearingAid’s models are not audiologist-adjusted for the buyer. They do keep an audiologist on staff to answer consumer questions via email, which can help you determine if one of these non-individualized hearing aids is right for you. To ensure that buyers are happy with their devices, MDHearingAid offers a money-back guarantee.

MDHearingAid’s Available Models
All MDHearingAid models come with a compact carrying case and a 45-day risk-free trial. Customers also receive either a year’s worth of batteries or, for Volt+ users, a charging case. The company currently offers three styles of hearing aids, all of which it sells directly to the consumer to avoid the “middleman” and the associated cost markups.
The Air
The Air is MDHearingAid’s bestselling model. It features advanced digital technology, high-quality sound, and three environment settings: quiet, social and noisy.
These hearing aids are sweatproof and have an average battery life of approximately 21 to 26 days. Air hearing aids retail at just $399.99 a pair. Payment plans at as little as $33.33 per month are available on purchases made directly from the manufacturer, and eligible consumers can receive 12 months of zero APR. Buyers who purchase a pair also receive a free protection plan and bonus batteries.
The Volt+
The Volt+ offers the advantage of being rechargeable. Its advanced battery takes just 3-3.5 hours for a full charge which lasts, on average, 24-30 hours, enabling users to enjoy a full day of hearing without needing to charge their aids. A dual charger-carrying case is included with the purchase of a Volt+. According to MDHearingAid, the battery will fully charge over 500 times and last several years, after which the battery can be replaced for a flat fee of $99.95 per aid.
Other standout features of the Volt+ include its two directional microphones, which help distinguish voices from background noise, and its advanced feedback cancellation technology. Like other MDHearingAid devices, the Volt+ is compact and nearly invisible and comes with MDHearingAid’s ComfortTips for the comfort of an ear mold without paying the high price. The Volt+ is also water-resistant and dust-protected.
The Volt+ retails from MDHearingAid for $599 for one ear or $1,199 for a pair. A compact, combined charger and carrying case is included with each order.
The Core
The Core hearing aid provides more advanced noise reduction than the Air model and is on par with the Volt in terms of noise and feedback reduction. With the Core, wearers will not have to adjust their hearing aids as often as they might with the Pro or Air because, regardless of the sound environment, Core hearing aids automatically detect and adjust to surrounding noise, focusing only on the sounds the wearer wants to hear. The result is a clearer listening experience in a more versatile range of settings.
The Core is MDHearingAid’s Bluetooth-enabled device and can be easily paired with the MDHearing app. Using the app, Core users can adjust their aid’s setting for customized noise reduction, even adjusting the settings for each ear individually so each user can achieve their perfect hearing experience. And, the Core can auto-adjust to changing environments, so users don’t have to manually adjust their aid if they move from a quiet to noisy setting and vice versa.
One Core hearing aid retails at $799.99 and a pair costs $1,599.99. Payment plans at as little as $83.33 per month are available and eligible consumers can receive 12 months of zero APR. Buyers who purchase a pair also receive a year’s worth of batteries.
Warranties Offered by MDHearingAid
MDHearingAid’s available devices come with a free 90-day manufacturer’s warranty that covers any hearing aid parts that malfunction or prove defective. Should that occur, MDHearingAid will repair or replace the hearing instruments at no cost to their customers. The 90-day warranty period begins on the date that the customer receives his or her hearing aid.
MDHearingAid offers the MDShield Protection Plan at an additional cost for any type of accidental damage, such as water exposure, battery corrosion, or breakage. The only things the MDShield Protection Plan does not cover are lost hearing aids and theft. Additionally, unauthorized repairs can void this warranty.
The MDShield Protection Plan costs $9.99 a month for the Air and Volt models and $14.99 for The Core.
MDHearingAid Hearing Aid Accessories and Extra Features
MDHearing Mobile App
This app is only compatible with the Core. Users of the app who have two hearing aids can create a hearing profile for each ear. Once each profile has been created, the user is able to view the battery status of the hearing aid(s), change programs, adjust the volume of one or both hearing aids, control frequencies, gain control of noise reduction and more. There is also a “Find My Device” feature that can help users find their hearing aid if they misplace it. The app works on iPads, iPhones and Android devices.
The UV Clean and Dry Box
This accessory can replace cleaning chemicals for hearing aids and doubles as a storage box, suitable for home or travel. The UV Clean and Dry Box uses dry heat to dry and dehumidify your device. It also uses UV-C light to inhibit the development of potentially harmful or skin-irritating bacteria. This accessory can house up to two pairs of hearing aids at once. The UV Clean and Dry Box currently retails directly from MDHearingAid at $74.99.
Dri-Eze Hearing Aid Dehumidifier
This dehumidifier functions as overnight storage as it is essentially a plastic container that is coated with a desiccating substance. No batteries or electrical connection is required. The Dri-Eze Hearing Aid Dehumidifier currently retails at $8.99.
