We feel Hoveround offers the best balance in terms of price, maneuverability and comfort. However, Quickie and Drive Medical are strong contenders in the market of indoor wheelchairs too.
Drive Medical – A Strong Contender for Range and Mobility
Drive Medical’s Titan AXS is priced similarly to the Hoveround LX-5, at $2,549. It offers an even more impressive turning radius, at just 20 inches, and has the same carrying capacity. However, the seat is not as well-designed, so some users feel it’s less comfortable for extended use. In addition, Drive Medical’s warranty isn’t as generous as Hoveround’s.
In terms of features and design, Drive Medical and Hoveround have a lot of similarities, so if you’re fortunate enough to have the opportunity to take both the LX-5 and the Titan AXS for a test drive, it’s worth doing so.

Quickie Q700 M
While our top pick is the best overall, Quickie’s powered wheelchairs may be a good option for some users. The Quickie Q700 M is a much more expensive wheelchair than the Hoveround LX-5. However, it’s designed for both indoor and outdoor use. It’s luxurious and hardwearing and has an impressive max range of 18 miles while offering a turning radius only slightly bigger than the Hoveround’s.
Quickie’s wheelchairs are costlier than Hoveround’s, but the extra range and speed may be worthwhile to some buyers. If you’re looking for an all-purpose wheelchair, the Q700 M is worth considering.
