Most employees here are very friendly and helpful, but my main complaint is cost. For approximately $400/day, we had to supply everything except toilet paper! Sheets, towels, diapers, soap, furniture, etc. must be supplied by the resident. The food is OK, but nowhere near the quality of the apartment residents' dining room. Most residents spend their lives in their rooms, not a lot of activities to do.

Birch Bay Retirement Village was a wonderful place. It's absolutely beautiful and very close to home. They have a good level of care. It's fairly small. What I like about this place is that my mom will stay right there in her apartment, no matter what her level of care is. The tour was great. It's a very loving and very calm place. They have a lot of activities for people who want to do things, a library, and dining room. Everything was beautiful. It's right by the ocean. The person who gave the tour, Suzanne, was great. I've actually been working with her somewhat in the last four years. She keeps me updated when there's an opening, so I've talked to her several times. In terms of amenities, they have everything as everybody else does. I think that my mother will love the hair salon because she loves to get her hair done.

Birch Bay was a very nice community. They rooms were very nice, and they have wonderful views of the ocean. They are kind of high up on a hill. They are in an area that is very quiet, and there are no other homes up where it is built. I think it is more for the upper-class people.

Birch Bay Retirement Village was a fine place, but there was hardly anybody there; it was like a ghost town. The first-floor bedroom was very small but the two-bedroom apartment was spacious enough. We did not see any residents there. The staff was very nice and helpful.
