I visited this facility

I toured Oakmont of Burlingame. The staff seemed nice. They are very active with the patients. They were doing some game or exercise or something, and I was pretty interested. They seemed to let the people involved and that looks pretty nice, but my dad's not interested in anything. The room was very nice. I like the way they set it up. It has a nice courtyard. It's small like every place, but you need a staff to open it for you. You can't just go by yourself.

I visited this facility

We went to Oakmont of Burlingame. The place was very neat and clean. The people there were extremely nice. The few residents that we met in the hallway were also very pleasant. The thing that my husband and I both felt was that it was very small and all had one bathroom. We really would prefer one and a half or two bathrooms. The activities were okay but neither of us played cards, so I think the activities for us were limited. There's no fitness center so neither of us could exercise on an exercise bicycle or anything like that.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother is a resident of Oakmont of Burlingame. I was impressed with the number of staff to the number of people that are living there. There was a very good ratio of staff compared to people living there. The place was clean, they went ahead and offered to help things move in. The staff in general check on her on a daily basis and every couple of hours. They bring her breakfast, because she chooses to have breakfast in her apartment, and then they take her to lunch and dinner and other activities. I check with my mother just about every other day, and she says that she likes it there. The food's good. The staff is wonderful. There's good communication between the staff. I talked to the nurse, left a message for the nurse last week to give me a call, and the nurse called me about two hours later and gave me an update on how my mom's doing. So, we're just very pleased with the overall appearance of the place and her apartment, which is perfect for her. She has a one bedroom; it's kind of an open floor plan and it has a little kitchenette. Then it has a bathroom with a walk-in shower and a shower bench. It has a TV living area, and she has two recliners in there. They were very helpful with our moving in, providing some assistance, and things like that. I viewed the place on Thursday, and they put new carpet in on Monday, and painted over the weekend. There were some touch-ups done on walls and so on. It came in very fresh and clean. It was a good choice. The apartment is very spacious. My mother is on the first floor, and the aisles are very wide. They have a beautiful courtyard outside with picnic tables. There was another sitting area that was covered so that people can go outside. When we were there there were people that were brought outside to have lunch if they wanted. It was very nice to just have different options. My mom goes to bingo, and I think she does a few other activities and exercises every day.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father is in Sunrise of Burlingame. He moved from memory care to assisted living. He has been ruled not a flight risk, so they're able to serve his needs in assisted living. Most of the staff have been there for over a year. There does not seem to be a high level of turnover. They know him well and connect with him and have good communication with me about his needs. He doesn't participate in activities as well as he should, but they offer scenic car rides and van rides. They are going to start a gardening center. They do exercises and a walking club. His room is very nice. The food is OK. They don't have a lot of spices. It's not very flavorful, but I think that's because a lot of the residents have low sodium needs and such. It's very clean. It's expensive, but he gets good care. They could have more country music that he would like and more outdoor western activities.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father is here. The staff has been very caring and responsive to the pandemic. There have been very few cases reported of the virus, which is remarkable considering what I hear about other assisted living situations. They are very responsive to family feedback and willing to accommodate the special needs of the residents. He wasn't ordering the right type of food to eat, so they are working with us to accommodate where we can help order his food. They help manage his medicines and keep the family up-to-date on his progress. It's one of the few assisted living places that has skilled nurses that can help administer medicine.

I visited this facility

It was a nice community. I spent a nice afternoon with the staff, which was very nice. They took me around. They had just remodeled the place. They're doing more work on it. I saw both the assisted living and memory care. If Mom would be in assisted living, she can only be on the second floor because that was the only accommodation they had for her condition. However, that might not work for her because she had to be on the first floor. Everything was on the first floor. First floor would have been easier for my mom with her condition. Nevertheless, their apartments were very nice. The dining room was very nice. The staff was honest and spent a lot of time with me.

We went here. It was very clean, very nice decor, and I think the rooms were a tad larger. They had option to go into the walk-in bathtub and a whirlpool bathtub for the patients, and it's also therapeutic and it's heated up. The staff was really nice and very accommodating. They had Bingo and movies. It was a really good place.

My uncle is here. It’s beautifully appointed, and the staff is most solicitous of the residents. The atmosphere is friendly, and my uncle is very satisfied. We are impressed with the cheerfulness of the staff. The food is good, and the dining area is set up like a first-class restaurant.

It is clean. I'm impressed with them. They seem to care for the residents and have done a good job so far. They have a restaurant where three meals a day are served. The food seems good. There is a fixed menu, but you can also get sandwiches, eggs, and things, if you so choose. They have a TV lounge and a general lounge area as well. They have a lovely outside yard, which is quite nice. The rooms are fine, of decent size. They accommodate the bed, chairs, television, and other furniture. The staff check on him and has been very good in giving my ex-husband his medications, bathing him, and upholding his general well-being. They are very attentive if the person needs a lot of assistance. They are very nice people.

It seems fine. It’s a brand-new place, so everything was very fresh and clean. It has a nice, open environment, and it seemed like they have activities.
