I toured Concordia of Bella Vista. I know so many people that have moved there that like it. They think it's a good place. They like the activities and the food. The staff members that showed us around were very helpful in many ways. Some had been there for a long time, so that was important. I have digestive problems, so I'm pretty picky about what I eat, but the food was very good. I had my choice of things to eat. My husband liked almost everything, so he liked it all. In terms of amenities, they have a library, an exercise facility with machines in it, and a nice big courtyard.

About Concordia of Bella Vista in Bella Vista, Arkansas
Perched high on a ridge overlooking both Little Sugar and Tanyard Creeks, Concordia of Bella Vista sets the standard for senior living in northwest Arkansas. Nestled amongst picturesque woodlands while offering sweeping vistas of the adjoining valleys, our 26-acre campus has been home to active retirees for over 50 years. And while the view is breathtaking, it's our service that makes us special. Concordia offers a full range of activities and services for active seniors in a secure and uplifting community. A skilled nursing facility is located next to the Assisted Living property; however, it is owned separately. The townhomes and apartments operate on month-to-month leases. There is no buy-in, which allows people who are unsure to try it. We offer spacious apartments and beautiful townhouses for seniors who want more out of life. We provide weekly cleaning, timely maintenance, round-the-clock security, emergency pendants and engaging activities on a daily basis. For those who no longer drive, we offer regular transportation for shopping as well as doctor and other appointments. Unlike other communities, we have 4 drivers, 3 cars and 1 bus to accommodate our resident's needs. We have a wellness nurse on staff for our Independent Living residents to provide assistance when needed. She coordinates home health for our residents. The residents can choose to work with our resident physician which sees them directly in their apartment/townhome. Any labs needed can be taken from their apartment. We have a separate onsite physical therapy group. Concordia has an in-home care program for our independent living residents. Whether doing laundry, ironing, changing kitty litter, walking a dog, or preparing a meal, our caregivers love interacting with residents of the community. Our program is designed for people who aren't quite ready for assisted living. Our independent living services are for those who want to stay independent but need a little bit more help. We tailor everything according to their need. Our dining room serves outstanding meals that our residents just rave about. One resident commented that 'even the Brussel sprouts taste good!' Concordia of Bella Vista was very well set up and very well run. They had individual condos and a good dining hall, and it was updated. The staff was very efficient and they were very proud of who they were working for. They were very well informed of what the community has to offer. We tried the meals and it was very good.

My husband is at Concordia of Bella Vista. I chose it because it's close by and I heard good things about it. It was just very welcoming. I like the whole setup. I really think it's a good place. The people there are very caring. The facility is clean. They have activities for the residents. They have an activities director who leads different programs for them to do. She keeps close tabs on everybody there, and she seems to know what's going on, which I think is important. The staff members all seem to be very caring. They do everything they can to make people happy and look out for the good of everybody. They even help me, even if I'm just the wife of a resident. I've eaten there three times, and I've been happy with it. The menus look good. It's a varied menu. They seem to have a good, healthy supply of food. They use fresh fruits and vegetables. It's an older building, but it's well-maintained. It's only two and a half miles from my house, so I can go there frequently, which is very helpful.

We toured Concordia of Bella Vista. It was a completely pleasant tour. The property is heavily wooded, very conducive to a serene, quiet environment, and the housing itself was more than adequate. The square footage that's offered is just wonderful. Everyone was extremely pleasant including the residents that live there, which you don't always see. Everyone was very pleasant and welcoming, and the facilities were up to date, modern, and well cared for. It was a thoroughly good experience. We toured a townhouse that was available. It was like a very large apartment. They had a covered balcony, a fireplace, and a modern kitchen. It was very pleasant. They have different apartments available, but we were interested in the square footage, and this is about 1,500 square feet, so it was a very nice space. They have a library, an exercise room, a beauty salon, and a restaurant. Everything that you need is right there on the ground. They also provide transportation to appointments and that kind of thing if you need it. The nurse on call is a real bonus. When you're looking at independent living, they don't usually throw the idea, but they have a nurse on staff. The staff that accommodated us was very knowledgeable and really professional. She's a very nice lady. They offered a meal, we did not try it, but the food looked delicious. The people that were in the restaurant at the time seemed to be enjoying themselves without any problem. One of the biggest draws to Concordia of Bella Vista is that it is geared toward a retirement community. And there are several things like lake boating, fishing, hiking, and swimming, all kinds of things are available. There are several lodges where you can have extremely nice dinners and you can stop in a café out there. It's just got it all. It is spread out over several miles, and you have access to the entire community.

My parents have been in the Concordia of Bella Vista for ten years now. They were in independent living for that whole time, and they were able to rent a good-sized townhome. It had a big deck where they could sit outside. The staff was very good. They had a lot of nice activities. They didn't have any caregivers or anything since they were in independent living. The dining was OK. It was a buffet style and the food was OK. They had a happy hour every week with musicians and dancing. They just had a couple of opera singers in that was excellent. It's an older community. It was the first one built in the area in the seventies. It's dated, but they keep it clean. They also have catered living and that's assisted living and that's where they're at now.

Concordia of Bella Vista feels to me like the Cadillac of retirement communities. They have everything, they have it well set up, and they have activities and stuff that's just incredible. They gave a great tour. Their homes are much more varied, so they have townhomes and apartments, and in terms of choice for activities and food, they're outstanding. Where we struggled was, things are very spread out, so my parents would have to walk quite a bit. They're pretty frail and they don't like to get out in the cold, and it's not all in one building. They have some internal apartments that they don't have to walk to, but they didn't have any available. They have one meal a day included, and it looked wonderful, but we didn't eat anything.

I went to Concordia of Bella Vista. They wanted $2375 a month and the space is only 455 square feet, it's very claustrophobic. They have another setup over there, which is wonderful, it's almost 4000 square feet, but you're paying something a little bit under $3500 a month. The Concordia has a wonderful setting, it was very nice and pleasant. In the 455 square feet apartments, I feel that I wasn't getting any kind of air circulation, that they were like tiny cubbyholes, and I don't even live in a big house. In general, the people were wonderful and the lady director over there was a wonderful person. On that alone, you'd want to stay. We encountered people as we went along, it was great. We even had lunch there and it was a buffet and it's nicely done. They give you one meal a day, and if you want a second meal, it's $150 a month more for that. What they've done is that the small apartments are in a separate building from the condos. So the campus is set up with separate buildings, depending on the kind of accommodations they have. There's a lot of foliage, with trees, gardens, and things like that. The outdoor settings were very nice, their meeting rooms were very nice, and there were quite a number of different gathering rooms that were all very nice. I looked at independent living, and they also have assisted living somewhere else separate from the campus. The staff was great, they're congenial and they looked genuine, like when they're smiling it's not forced. They may be a little bit costly, but they're giving you everything that you would need. And the availability is good.

Cindy of Concordia of Bella Vista was fantastic. She was so much fun. She joked with us, and we had a great time with her. My husband and I felt very relaxed with her. The director was fantastic too. The receptionist and the residents were all great. The only thing that didn't work out for us there was that there was only one cottage available in the hills, although it was really big. I could not walk up the hill. The roads around the facility were really hard to manage. We had a cart to get around with the tour but it will be too much for me to manage if I'm going to live there. There was a full kitchen in the cottage with a full refrigerator, a stove, and a microwave. Their pricing was OK. Their cleanliness was at the top of the list. We were there after lunch, so we didn't have a meal but they gave us a really good pumpkin cheesecake.

We visited Concordia of Bella Vista. That's where we want to go. We like that one well. It fits our needs. The location is nice. It's between Springfield and Fort Smith, so it's easy for us to get back and forth. There are kids living in Springfield and Springfield, Missouri, and dependents living in Fort Smith, so it's roughly halfway in between. What I liked about the community was Rene, the director of the facility. She's left there now due to some health problems. Now we have another director and she visited me two days or three days ago. She is just as good as Rene was. Rene showed us several apartments. One was like 800 square feet or something like that and the other one was like 900 square feet. We like the 900 square feet the best because the shower is like 1 or 2 inches to get over instead of over a tub, and that's what my wife needs to get around. That's why we went with that one. They showed us the corridors. They go from the main part of the campus to the other apartments. You can just walk from one to the other and that's nice. They have a refrigerator and a washer-dryer in the apartment. Food is a 5 because that lady has been there for like 15 years or something and she's a heck of a cook. She does a good job. It's a good facility. They have all the things that we're going to need for the foreseeable future. They have a workout area that is good for me, and they have a PT there that my wife may need occasionally. Another little advantage is that we're right down the road from a little lake where you can go fishing, and I'm into that big time. The food is excellent. It's as good as any restaurant you want to go to and get a good meal.

I moved into an independent living unit at Concordia of Bella Vista. It's wonderful. They respond very quickly to any concerns. The staff is very kind and caring. My unit itself is beautiful. It was clean and no repairs needed when I moved in. The staff and the residents have been very welcoming. The food is great. It's not gourmet, but it's really good. I know that they have social hour on Fridays, they have games, puzzles, a weight room, and they take people to the doctors or to Walmart. There are lots of walking paths.

We looked at Concordia, and I liked it a lot. I liked the separate condos or little houses, they have a list of daily activities like exercises, shopping trips, and card games. I played cards there a couple of times a month. The staff member is wonderful at her job, I was impressed with her ability to show what they have, and to make you feel comfortable. I had a meal there and it was excellent. The townhomes are very nice, and they redo everything when you move in. They have two rooms with tables and chairs, and they use them for various things.

Concordia was nice. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The grounds are pretty; the scenery is pretty. It’s not close to anything within walking distance for anybody. If a senior might want to walk someplace, it’s not close to that. They had accommodations for that like a van that would take the seniors to places, and they have lots of activities. They had nice little apartments -- they were on the small side but nice. They had a good library. Their dining room seemed like it was bright and cheery, and it looked like they had a nice selection of food.

It is not very good, so I'm looking for a better place. The people that I see are the cleaners who come in once a week and the people who serve them their one meal a day. The food is not so good and full of carbohydrates. My loved ones have a 2,300-square-foot home. It's lovely, comfortable, and has beautiful views. They have their own furniture, and it's just like renting a house. They have card games and take them to different stores if they want to go. I always thought it was pretty nice.

I’ve placed my mother-in-law in here. Other people recommended it and said their loved ones were well taken care of there. It’s relatively close and they had room available, unlike everybody else who had at least a 36-month waiting list. The facility itself could use some remodeling, but other than that, the care given there is fantastic and my mother-in-law is as happy as a clown. So far, the staff has been very helpful and keep us well informed and updated on everything. My mother-in-law is very well accommodated. She goes to bible study. She said the food is quite good and had some new vegetables that she normally wouldn’t have tried on her own. She’s made some friends and is getting along quite well.
