Web’s #1 Source of Senior Care Reviews Featured in Guides/Ratings/Reviews Category

San Mateo, CA; April 30, 2013 — Caring.com, the leading website for family caregivers of seniors in the United States, is pleased to announce that its Senior Care Directoryhas earned the Official Honoree distinction in the 17th Annual Webby Awards, the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS). With 35,000 consumer reviews across 15 care categories, Caring.com’s Senior Care Directory is the Web’s #1 source of senior care reviews and received recognition within the “Guides/Ratings/Reviews” category of The Webbys. There were 11,000 entries received from all 50 states and more than 60 countries, and IADAS awarded the Official Honoree distinction only to the top 15 percent of entries exhibiting remarkable achievement.

“Honorees like Caring.com are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet,” said David-Michel Davies, executive director of The Webby Awards. “It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the entries we received this year.”

“We know from our research that half of family caregivers of seniors in the U.S. have looked online for a senior living community or in-home care provider for their aging or ailing loved one. To ease their search — and help them make better decisions, save time and money, and feel less stressed and less alone — we’ve focused on building the most comprehensive, most credible online resource for finding senior care providers in America,” says Andy Cohen, co-founder and CEO of Caring.com. “On behalf of the entire team at Caring.com, we extend our thanks and appreciation to The Academy for recognizing that our Senior Care Directory is serving its purpose well and standing out for exceptional quality not only within our industry but across the Web.”

Choosing the right living situation and care provider for a senior loved one is one of the most important decisions that individuals and families make. “The right fit is different for each family, so the more information we can provide to help inform the selection process, the better it is for everyone, including the service provider,” says Cohen.

Firsthand testimonials are consistently cited as one of top three factors for caregivers in selecting an assisted living community, memory care community, or other senior care provider for a loved one. Reviews help families figure out which providers to call, what to look for, and what to questions to ask. This online word-of-mouth is so valuable, in fact, that in analysis of all listings in its Senior Care Directory in 2012, Caring.com found that those listings with reviews had more than five times more consumer inquiries than those without reviews.

Website entries within The Webbys are evaluated based on six criteria: content, structure and navigation, visual design, functionality, interactivity, and overall experience. Each entry undergoes a rigorous process, with multiple rounds of judging by IADAS members who are objective, respected, and knowledgeable in their categories and vote tabulation consulting provided by PricewaterhouseCoopers. Only ten websites were Webby honorees in the Guides/Ratings/Reviews category of this year’s Webbys, including Caring.com’s Senior Care Directory.
