Charlotte, NC; Nov. 14, 2024: Caring.com, a leader in senior living referrals and reviews, today announced its “Caring Stars 2025” list, honoring the best senior living communities and nursing homes across the U.S. These award-winning communities stand out for consistently high ratings and outstanding service, as shared by senior residents and their families.

Originally launched in 2012 as the first of its kind in the senior living industry, the Caring Stars program is backed by nearly 400,000 consumer reviews meeting stringent standards. This nationally-recognized annual list highlights the most highly-rated senior living communities to help seniors and families make well-informed, confident choices during a crucial life transition.

For Caring Stars 2025: 167 communities in 29 states earned the distinction, with the highest concentrations in Michigan (29), Ohio (23), California (16), Texas (16) and Illinois (12).  Among the winners: 89 have earned Caring Stars status in 3 or more years since 2012, and are being recognized as “Caring Super Stars.” 

The Making of a “Caring Star”

To qualify for Caring Stars 2025, communities and care homes had to have a stellar reviews profile on Caring.com by October 15, 2024, with:

  • An overall average rating of 4.5 stars or higher;
  • Demonstrated excellence in total published review volume (across all time) and recent reviews (between 10/15/23-10/15/24), with specific qualification metrics for smaller versus larger homes, and all having at least one 5-star review in 2024; and
  • Public responses to the feedback (with at least one review response overall, and responses for every 1-star or 2-star negative review). 

Caring also screened finalist communities using licensing information on state agency websites (where applicable and data publicly available), including analysis of two years of regulatory inspection reports. Furthermore, Caring conducted an extensive audit of every review on each community finalist’s reviews page, re-evaluating nearly 10,000 reviews to uphold review publication validity and ensure award integrity.

Any senior living community with an exceptional reviews profile on Caring.com is eligible for Caring Stars consideration. Communities are selected for the Caring Stars distinction based on merit, without needing to apply, partner, or advertise with Caring.com. Also, Caring doesn’t charge fees for review surveys, promotional licensing of the Caring Stars badge, or other reviews services it offers (including an award-winning reviews-by-phone service manned by highly-trained, experienced review-collection agents).  Families and seniors can trust that this award reflects a rigorous, transparent process rooted in genuine consumer feedback and well-established quality standards.
