I visited this facility

We went to look at Homestead at Hamilton. The staff we talked to was really great. He was fantastic. He was very clear and explained everything to us. The facility was very nice and clean. They have very nice rooms. It seems like a pretty and bright place. It's convenient for us because we live in a town that's the same township, so we could see my dad a lot. Everything looked great. The cafeteria was really nice and open. They have two libraries. It's really important that they're able to get a cable and stay in touch with the phone. All the rooms look like apartments in an apartment building. They look really nice and comfortable. The people decorate them nicely. It would be good for my dad.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

This is for Volante Senior Living, the company that owns Homestead at Hamilton. My father was a resident for 3 years at Homestead. Two weeks after he passed away in March, I received a letter from Volante. In this letter, you would think there would be some kind of condolences or acknowledgment of our loss. Nope. Instead, it was Volante threatening me with legal action if I didn’t pay the remaining balance on my fathers account. A balance I even paid days prior to receiving this letter. I’ve never seen anything that cold before, especially from a company that is in the business of senior care. To treat grieving families with such callousness is simply inhumane. Unfortunately, that’s just par for the course from Volante and what we experienced. Through their constant rate hikes, coldness to residents and families, and just overall disorganization, Volante is a stain in the senior care community that should be ashamed of themselves.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom has moved into Homestead at Hamilton. It's clean, and there are two sides, assisted living and independent living; they're treated very differently. The Independent living, of course, they're more ambulatory, so they can go to a pub, or the dining room for dinner or a cafe with friends. For assisted living, sometimes they are served lunch or dinner in Styrofoam containers, not even on a plate which I find very disturbing. Anyway, you're paying the money for the assistance. There's also a very large difference between caregivers. I guess that's going to be anywhere, but some are very nice, and some are just bullies. I don't think they give the same consideration to the assisted living side as they do to the independent living. The layout is sufficient, you can put a kitchen table in there and a little couch. I don't think it's worth what we're paying at all. In the lounge, there's a table where four people sit up, but that's all. They need to be more attentive to health. There's one doctor. If you ask to see a doctor, it takes a week for them to come in, I find that unacceptable. When medications or something is needed, it's a week's delay. The food is fine. There are brand new owners too, new people bought it. I don't know if it'll change. So far, all I know is they can't leave their desks anymore. So, if there's a delivery, it waits until a maintenance man can come and do it. When the priest comes in, they're not allowed to go find him and ask him to go to rooms. New rules are going into place.

I visited this facility

I went to Homestead at Hamilton. It had a memory section, but it was small. It was a very nice place, although it was built more to accommodate people that just wanted assisted living. It had a lot of things, and it was very well-run. The staff was very professional. The facade was upscale, and it was well maintained.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother has been at Homestead at Hamilton since it first opened. Her apartment is beautiful with plenty of room. The doorways accommodate wheelchairs & walkers. The bathroom has a walk-in shower for safety. It has been a wonderful place for my mother. The staff is attentive and patient but most importantly they are loving & caring to all the residents. I am writing this review to especially acknowledge the work all the staff has done to keep my mother safe during this time of COVID. Back in March the facility promptly took action to keep the residents safe and have continued to do so through all these months. The staff continued to care for the residents with a smile and were always quick to encourage all to follow safe guidelines. The director has been available whenever I have had a question & just like the staff he has always spent time with my mother when she has had questions or just passing by. The community that has developed within Homestead has been very important to me & my mother. She has a wonderful set of friends & I know everyone looks out for one another. My mother has recently been in the hospital & the residents sent her cards and even videos to keep her spirits up. The most important aspect of my mother's residence at Homestead is that I feel she is safe & well taken care of especially if I am out of town. The security and well being of my mother is the most important thing to me & at Homestead at Hamilton I am confident she is secure, safe & well taken care of. Thank you to all the staff! Your hard work & dedication is greatly appreciated!!!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My parents moved in, in July, Dad independent, Mom in assisted living. After an initial good start the place went downhill fast after the summer. While the public areas are kept clean and it’s very new facility, don’t be fooled by it. After all the college-age summer staff went back to school they were not replaced. When my mother rings her call button for assistance from the aides, half the time the staff does not show up to assist her, and I see them congregating socializing instead of helping residents. If the driver for the very limited transportation van goes on vacation, tough luck for the residents, no replacement is offered. The food quality has gone downhill. Service is incredibly slow in the dining rooms to the point that even managers have to go in to help out. The once-a-week cleaning in the independent apartments is quite lackluster. The administrative staff are not responsive to complaints other than to say “it’s on a work order” and then nothing changes. It seems as if they have orders to keep their spending down from corporate office for their bottom line. But at these prices I expect a heck of a lot more. My family is beside itself.

Homestead at Hamilton is a brand-new, nice place. One thing I like about it is that should Mom move on to assisted living, she can still go to the independent living side and socialize with friends. They have a secure memory care area if the time comes that we need it. Another thing we like is they serve meals all day long instead of at fixed times. The staff we met was knowledgeable and very compassionate, and we feel very comfortable with them.

I chose Homestead at Hamilton for my mom because she can afford it, and it's a beautiful place that offers everything that she needs; she'll get assistance with her medication and with whatever she needs. They have all the activities, a movie theater in the building, a bistro with good food, a gym with equipment, and yoga and chair exercises. The size of the rooms are smaller than we hoped, but the rest of the place is wonderful.

Homestead at Hamilton is a beautiful community. The first staff member who helped me during the tour was very helpful. So many people were helping and talking to my aunt. It was really great. When my aunt went there, someone else assisted her and sort of freaked her out about the cost because she didn't know about her insurance. It's a new community so it's not filled yet, but they have problems. I still think it's the better place for my aunt. They have two dining areas that look great, and I like the fact that it's open 24/7 because it means you can go eat any time you want.

I visited this facility

Homestead at Hamilton is brand new, very nice, and pristine. They have five or six different sized apartments in the independent section that I looked at which were all very nice. They seem to promote a lot of activities and entertainment. The lady who helped me was very nice. They have more than one dining room, a bistro, and a breakfast place where they serve continental breakfast, coffee, and tea. They have in-house therapy. It has a lot of different entrances to take you closer to your particular dwelling, but it's massive. It's three stories tall and it has a lot of hallways and elevators.
