Bella Vita Senior Living is a residential care home. There was only one staff person present at the time that I went to the facility. It was after lunch, early afternoon so several of the residents were sleeping. The room was small. At that particular site, I wasn't given any of the pricing. I could see a menu that they had listed. A big factor was how my uncle would be able to get the attendant into his room if the attendant was on the other side of the house and he was in the other wing. I'm not even really sure what it was. It wasn't an alert button around the neck but was like a button they would push that would ring like a chime in another part of the house. Staffing was an issue there for me. And not being given a price list. I was told to contact the owner. The location of that one was a factor, too, because it was near a high school. I was limited to what I could see because everybody was sleeping. But the two people that I talked to, I could hear one watching T.V. in another room, they said there was one in each of those rooms. It was very clean and smelled fresh. There was no urine smell or anything like that.

I visited Bella Vita Senior Living. I like the location and it was extremely clean. We were there at lunch. It was a man who showed me around and he was so nice and so patient. The food they were serving smelled and looked very, very good. The kitchen and the dining room, it was like an open kitchen where you can sit at the dining table and see the open kitchen and it looked out onto the backyard. It just felt very open and scenic. The dining area was very close to the kitchen and it looked accessible for wheelchairs. My mom uses a walker and a wheelchair, but it looked wheelchair accessible and easy to navigate. Someone was working on a jigsaw puzzle. There was a shelf near a table where the jigsaw puzzle was. There were some books up there. It was lunchtime, so everyone was pretty much gathered around the table. They had another middle-aged man that was cooking and also interacted and was very friendly. He was busy but had time to look up and say a few nice words and smile and interact. It's nice for anyone who's looking for a small group experience there. I would tell people don't be afraid to look at it. It's great.

Bella Vita Senior Living was our second choice. The facility was clean. It was set up nicely for my mom. The staff was informative. The rooms were clean. The backyard was nice and clean. Everything was green.

Bella Vita Senior Living was nice. The layout was nice. I like the staff. They're just super helpful and willing to accommodate. They have nice rooms for the seniors. They have a cute kitchenette in the studio area. It was really cute, and it was nice. I just couldn't afford it. They have nice courtyard. They had just finished some game.

Bella Vita Senior Living was very peaceful. They were accommodating for meals because they were serving both lunch and breakfast. They had a very nice area outside in the backyard, and it was a very quiet community. Even though it's right next to a high school, they said they don't hear a lot of commotion or noise going on in that area. The bathroom for the single room which my wife would have would be separate. It was in a hallway just outside the door. A drawback with that smaller facility is that my wife has many and frequent visitors, which they didn't approve of. In talking to the manager, because my wife is aggressive and with one person at nighttime, they felt that she wouldn't fit there. Being a small facility (there were only three residents there, but they could have five or six in total), to have that one caregiver give all the attention to my wife needing more attention, she wouldn't have enough to take care of others. There are three other bedrooms and most of them had a bath between two rooms. The room that my wife would probably go into would have a bath outside. It had a large countertop area next to the kitchen and a kitchen table next to it. There was plenty of room for them to get in and out, plenty of seating, and they had a large screen TV that they were playing music on at the time and they could watch movies. One of the guests had just finished his breakfast at noontime, so he went and sat in a chair and the gal went and got him a blanket just to make sure he didn't get cold and so he could settle in there and be relaxed. They shared that they could be back in their rooms any time they wanted or come out any time they wanted. If they didn't like the meal they served, they would have alternatives to feed them. The staff seemed very knowledgeable and accepting and said that she would take an aggressive person, which they've done in the past. However, the manager I talked to later on the phone said it wouldn't be fitting for them.

My mother moved into Bella Vita at Stonington and there's nothing that I don't like. She ended up in a hospital and then they had a person there that helped find a place that met her needs. I needed someone that would be up at night, 24-hour care, that sort of thing, and she loves it. Everyone's nice there. They're attentive. The staff are all friendly and attentive, and she's really happy there. She was afraid to go to a place and she really likes it. She's not eating that much, but they make sure the food looks good. She can't walk, so she's just stuck in the room, but the other people there, they are doing puzzles and crafts, and they're hanging out in the common room watching TV.
