I toured Sunrise at University Park. It was nice but older than the established operating facility. The staff was very caring but there were not as many people available. I saw where their dining facility was, but I did not try any of their food. It was nice, it was smaller, and it looked clean and very welcoming. The number of circular and square tables and linen, regular cotton tablecloths was well laid out.

I did not like the rooms at Sunrise of University Park. It was almost like having two separate unrelated people in the two rooms. Then there was just kind of a little anteroom where the kitchenette was. The living quarters were not good at all in that way. The rooms were not like little apartments. They were kind of institutional. The common spaces were very nice. They should take Fox News off of their public space television. It was an OK tour. I wasn't sure why I wasn't able to see the rooms more freely.

We toured Sunrise of University Park. It'll start out with assisted, and then as my dad's dementia progresses, we'll go to the memory side if I choose that facility. It was beautiful. As soon as we walked in it smelled like fresh-baked cookies. The receptionist was very welcoming, and she was explaining just how good she thinks the company is, and that if they had a facility in Wisconsin, she would put her mom in one, and she just kind of explained how well the residents were taken care of. When the tour started with the activities coordinator, she was very thorough. She showed me everything they had to offer. She was able to show me the four different floor plans. It was very like descriptive. She took me to the kitchen and took me to where they get their haircut. She showed me their laundry facilities and the list of activities that they have every day. They have seven or eight activities that last throughout the whole day. They cater their activities to the residents, and all the residents that I saw were very well taken care of. All the CNAs and the nurses and all the staff that works with the residents were very, very approachable, and you could tell that they enjoyed their job. It was just amazing. And they have the cutest, most beautiful cat on the memory side. It followed us around and it was affectionate with the residents. It was just awesome. Nobody was eating at the time we went, but the staff explained that there's no assigned tables and they can sit wherever they want. She showed me the menu and it was awesome. They have their food that's offered every single day, but then they also had three other choices specific for that day that the residents could choose. And the food wasn't just like your simple cheeseburger with french fries, but it was pulled pork with mashed potatoes and broccoli. I told the lady that if I could move my dad in today, I would. I did not taste the food, but the residents on the memory care side were in the middle of eating, and it smelled delicious. We looked at two floor plans and they looked great. They looked like miniature houses. We would have to furnish them ourselves, which is totally fine. Each room that I saw had a wonderful view. They even had a garden outside and a patio, which was super cute. The garden didn't have any plants in it because it's winter, but they have a whole setup out there for vegetables and herbs. I was just pleasantly surprised with everything. They had very big TVs and had a Western showing like the older programs because the residents are older.

Sunrise of University Park was a slightly larger place, but it was a quiet neighborhood. The staff was just very helpful and very knowledgeable. It was groomed, landscaped, and maintained, and it was a nice location. They had a variety of rooms, studio, one-bedroom with a living room, and they were all pretty good sized and pretty nice. The outdoor space was OK.

Sunrise of University Park was acceptable, although it was mediocre and very institutional. There was nothing spectacular about the rooms. All I saw was the kitchen, but they did not invite us to lunch. It didn't feel homey; it felt like you're really walking into an assisted living facility.

We were not impressed with Sunrise's activities because it didn't seem like a lively place. We felt it’s not a good fit for us as it’s geared more toward older people. The tour was a little bit disoriented as the staff who gave us a tour had to leave and someone needed to take over.

Sunrise was OK and had nice staff. The rooms were kind of small and not very personalized. The residents looked content but not happy.

I went to Sunrise for my dad. It was one of my favorites. They were playing bingo the first time I went, and it seemed like there was a lot going on. There were vans coming back with people that had been out of the community. The room was very basic. It was small, but the staff was nice, very friendly, and they all seemed very busy. The facility looked new and clean, too.

My husband was in Sunrise at University Park for 10 months, and they evicted him. Most of the staff were great with my husband. Unfortunately, the director who was in charge was not very cooperative, and she evicted my husband. I had 24 hours to find a place for him, and I did, but it was a place I couldn't afford, so I needed to move him again.

My mother moved to Sunrise at University Park in February. We chose it because of the feel of the place when we visited. It seemed to fit our needs. It had a homey feeling to it. The people are friendly, very easy to get along with, and professional. She's pretty much busy all day until bedtime. They keep them very involved. They go out shopping on occasion, and they go for walks. The rooms are just right for her needs, and there is a chair and a couch as well as her bed. It is a good size.

Every time I visited Sunrise, it is always clean and the residents are well dressed and clean too. The staff there really cares about the residents. You can tell it's not just a job to them.No other therapy department was as enthusiastic as the folks who were at Sunrise. The attention given to my grandmother made her feel instantly relaxed and excited for her future. I was extremely impressed with the attitude, work ethic, integrity and most of all the loving and compassionate way I saw staff interacting with residents.Great area and the staff seems to have the appropriate training and know how to interact with residents with varied issues. A wonderful place for your family member if they are looking for comfort and assurance in great care. I went to visit her recently and she told me "I think of the people here like my family". Hearing things like this out of my grandmother is very comforting, I know the staff will always be there for her when myself or my family cannot.
