Inspiration for this Nomination:

Eve has kept the Valley to Valley Adult Day Care open in very difficult circumstances. Eve runs the center under a 501 (c)(3). When finances are tight, she tells families, "God will provide, and you just come to the Center." The seniors she serves are all very well taken care of each day. It has been seen as a "Leader in Dementia Care." They have been found to be approved by State agencies with "NO DEFECENCIES". It is impossible to tell about all of what she does. It would be good if folks would drop by the Center and experience the task and the effort. She serves as caregiver, CEO, activities director, CNA, medication QMAP, grant writer, teacher, friend and etc. She picks up and delivers seniors, takes them to appointments. If family needs a weekend day break her and her husband have been known to take the seniors to their ranch for the day.

She is a 30+ year medical professional. Caring, uplifting, compassion for seniors and the problems families face; sharing ways to make quality life for all involved. She is able to motivate any of the seniors that come to her, help the families learn ways to care for their loved one and enjoy activities with each other. She has a sense about just knowing what the particular senior needs, emotionally or physically and making it happen to the good.

The folks that Eve cares for will provide a very good report of Eve's care. They have letters at the center from families, stating how much they love her care and staff. Eve was nominated as a "Cornerstone" in the community for her giving and caring compassion for seniors and the Center that she operates.

More About This Caregiver:

Eve has been in healthcare for well over 30 years as a teacher, consultant and worker. When her parents were up in age, it was common for her to check on them when she was in off of the road from traveling. When her mother was diagnosed for the 9th time with cancer, and her Dad with dementia; she canceled contracts of teaching to care for both of them. She did not want to see them in a nursing home. She stayed with her Mom and Dad for 18 months, that meant leaving her ranch in the hands of other people and living in the city to help them. Ministering to them each day. Mom needed a lot of nursing skills, and Dad needed individual attention and inclusion in all activities. When the Lord called her Mom home, she packed up her Dad and took him home to her ranch. He lived out his years there and Eve in 2006 was lead of God to open a Senior Day Center. Giving seniors the opportunity to have independence, compassion, socialization and family for as long as possible in a loving environment. She has since taken seniors into her home to give families a break, and make it possible for that loved one not to see a nursing home before time. She currently is helping a family by having a senior stay at their home, instead of a nursing home. She and her husband just take things in stride and everyone is blessed, and needs met. She has a love for seniors, and compassion on the stresses of family that I seldom ever see. I have learned a great deal from Eve about the need for her services. I have been a board member for three plus years. I hope that this nomination will help bring more attention to what is going on at the Center.

I believe that community of Salida should get behind Eve and the Center as a vital part of the community's need to serve seniors who have lost most of their family and friends and need a very good social environment.
